Polverone,
Gotta take the business when you can get it! I haven't found any leads yet, so it would be a great help, time permitting!
Many thanks,
Peter
Just to ask (I know there are a million variables as to skill, paint application, etc.)
If I bought a gallon of red oxide primer and three gallons of 24087 (probably from Brent Mullins Jeep parts) and had someone (who apparently knows what he's doing) shoot the truck for non-show finish...
I pulled up the two floor plates that cover the transfer case in the cab. Per the troubleshooting manual I didn't find anything amiss with the linkage on the exterior. This section of the manual leads me to the part where it tells me to report the vehicle to a higher authority. Perhaps I...
This thread goes into detail on headlights and switching to halogen. I'll probably do so this summer.

And here's another fellow who switched:

Here's where to get the...
Any suggestions as to good sources for appropriate fire extinguishers for a deuce?<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> They don’t need to be OD and authentic military spec.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I’ve two empty brackets in the cab which need to be filled if I wish to protect my...
Does RAPCO have a website up and running? I haven't found it if they do.
I'm about ready to go ahead and use Krylon in the spray can this summer, as all the hoops and expense that folks jump through seem a little too much for the dilettante MV collector such as myself. (Plus these spray can...
Well, finally found time to remove the transmission tunnel and sadly all the exposed parts look fine, so I'll apparently move towards a having a transfer case rebuild. :(
Ok. I'm insane. Really. (The Mrs. says it is so, so it must be true!)
I bought the deuce in part due to my rescue squad affiliation, and am even reading closely the "Ambulance Marking - Military Design Vehicle" markings in Technical Bulletin 746-93-1.
In most general terms, what's the...
LH7,
Glad you added the larger pic of your avatar. I'd otherwise have seen a caricature of the head of a cow wearing sunglasses in the small version. I'm confused enough these days!
Congrats on the new wheels!
I'm confused by the follow-up I got from WIX regarding the 42851 and 42837 filters:
Our 42851 is rated at 330 cfm with minimal restriction. It will certainly flow 410 cfm with just a slight increase in initial restriction. Thank you for your inquiry.
The 42837 has the same flow...
Through pure ignorance, I drove through Ohio and West Virginia without knowledge of their requirements. I figured the Virginia trip permit would get me through if I had troubles.
Fortunately, i got home without incident.
During my disasterous "Let's wash the seat covers" campaign (see Deuce tips & tricks) , I found what looked like a mouse nest in the driver's seat bottom and a mud dauber nest in the co-driver's seat bottom (both long dormant - thank heavens!).
Jeff,
I'll second you on the importance of changing the ancient rubber under the hood. I blew a radiator hose on my '68 Volvo 144S late on a Christmas Eve many years ago en route to the future Mrs. Hannon's house. My parents, God bless them, aren't mechanically inclined and had never had any...
Mangus,
Polverone's about right - they LOOK like about five gallons, but I haven't done anything with them yet to get a more accurate measure.
Polverone,
I love your avatar! While my wife is very mechanically inclined, she didn't take shop class in junior high, so she needs to work on her...
Mangus,
Welcome aboard! Biodiesel is one way I rationalized buying an MV, and I hope to play some making small batches this summer (I've picked up 4 35lb. containers of used soy frying oil to start out.)
Please share with us where you live/hang out/are hiding from the Law in your signature so...
My '71 deuce with 1985 -1C just turned over 400 hours yesterday, and I figured it was time to ask these questions:
When adding a new engine to an existing frame, is the industry practice to keep the milage on the odometer and reset the engine hours, or are both reset?
What IS an...
