Thanks for that bit of info, I prolly will go with a 205 eventually as this GV already has the adapter. But then can't you get a 205's 1st re-geared as well if you're looking for lower creep?
Well, as it is, my final output will have me in the 3.56 gearing catagory with the GV installed and that's pretty good numbers for the small amount of work involved. However, I was also leaning toward the 4L80 but when considering the amount of work plus a few unknowns, I figured the GV was (if...
Yea, it's my $1K crap-shoot really. But I really wasn't up for doing gear change and the expense because I would really want to rebuild the whole axle and not just swap gears. That alone could run $2K just in parts. And then there's your labor and for me, the nagging question remains; will the...
Yup--- that's the one! Didn't have time to get an up close look at it but I figure even if its shot, somewhere else I saw a post where GV will swap old for the newer P-series and I believe I'd still be ahead, money-wise, compared to buying a unit brand new... that's the plan anyway and will post...
Go to Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and check out the reviews. Other than that I know they're made in China... for what its worth.
OK, I've searched the threads for Gear Vendors info and came up with a few smatterings but none specifically regarding GV units to fit our app, that being CUCV's. My particular application is an M1008.
Since I didn't want to sacrifice 4:56 gearing but sure as heck wanted better road RPM's, I...
Finding a knowlegabe auto parts man is definatly becoming a lost cause. And aside from NAPA (thank gawd for them) I've discovered another great source for my old trucks in the big-rig repair shops, like where the big rig drivers go to get their parts and/or work done, etc.,.
Most of these are...
Kingpins shouldn't be TOO much hassle. (knock on wood!) Did ones on a '63 Beetle few years back and seems to me the only thing I couldn't do myself was press them into the steering knucks... shop did it for me cheap.
ALSO, from first impressions I'd say you did some pretty nice body work... you...
Ditto on that; my C3500 has TH400 like CUCV's and went thru similar trouble with my beast not shifting up. So I disconnected the single wire on the left (driver's) side of the trans and it shifted UP fine... only now it doesn't like to down shift properly.
This problem is a switch (solenoid)...
HEAR, HEAR! That is exactly what happened; SUV caused the accident. But we can always trust on our local spews-media to twist a story around to fit a spectacular headline... these people have little respect for the truth.
God help us all
I don't know about anybody else but I got fed up with filling out the stupid address forms, over and over, because everytime I came to check-out it said my address was invalid and the sale would go no further. Wrote to their contact email 3 times and they keep sending me another log-in...
It probably IS the most practical way to load/unload smaller vehicles off of say, a 40ft flatbed. But FOR CRIPE-SAKES---- with just use a little common sense anybody could figure out that after they've damaged EVERYTHING they touch, maybe some padding/dunnage on the fork blades themselves MIGHT...
I've dealt with Tim and he's an A+ kinda' guy... but I sure wish he'd hire somebody that knows how to run forklift better... everything is either bent or damaged by forks there in someway or another and that just seems a waste... just my .02 cents.[thumbzup]
You about got that right dude! I was in Barstow inspecting some trucks and while the guy was taking me around to various yards we came upon the GL girl employee unloading a flatbed (pallets) and she driving the SHEET out of one of those big forks, like a maniac.
To Wit; I'm an equipment...
AYE! I'm with ya' on that little spring clip being installed proper like. Couple years ago bought a C3500 previously owned by some San Diego hillbillies and it had the Bendix brakes like our CUCV's. They had obviously done themselves a 'shade-tree' brake job in the recent past but this truck had...
Ok, I'm with ya' about that stock tank size and I myself have the need (or greed) for the ability to carry more fuel for long outtings.
But have you thought of doing a dual tank set-up; like two 27 gal's? I've R&R'ed a few tanks before and it always seemed to me that it couldn't be THAT...
