I wanted a deuce since I was a little kid. When I finally got one, I worked on it nonstop til I had it on the road. Once I had it on the road, I drove it everywhere, put 1000 miles on it in a few months. There's nothing like owning/driving a deuce. No other vehicle I've had come close. I love it...
I'm on here rummaging around trying to find a link I posted with good info, exploded views etc. for the injection pumps. I saw a post by Jeepsinker elsewhere about the smoke cam adjustment and want to see the cutaway/exploded view. Now where did I post that...?
I'm still alive! Anxiously awaiting temps cool enough morning and evening to drive the '70...after I pay the commercial reg, ouch!
Rusty, still bummed we missed our meeting up your way. :-(
I talked to Ray on the phone and then met him at Those Military Guys around a year ago. Really cool guy but then I never could get ahold of him again.
I have had multiple people use and recommend California Registration in El Cajon. They have a reputation for handling the "hard" stuff easily...
Brake lines and wheel cylinders rust out from the inside if water, even condensation gets in the system. I think the hydraulic system is supposed to be flushed annually...?
Seals and gaskets fail inside wheel cylinders, etc. brake fluid is supposed to preserve them.
Everyone preaches brake...
I put new batts in my deuce a while back. Group 31 Dekas with threaded post. No more tapered clamp post melty nonsense!
I recommend Deka. East Penn Mfr, made in USA, they kick. I have a commercial account and paid $111ea.
Had an idea...valve to close off air intake, probably after turbo. Emergency shutdown in case of runaway and would provide engine braking in case of brake failure.
Thanks. That reinforces my idea. Everyone always preaches brake inspection, but how is a guy supposed to inspect the inside of his brake lines for rust pitting? I'm going to do some brake testing on my deuce. Start on dirt and work up.
