I think in order to kill the truck with one switch you would need some sort of compound switch installed between the batteries to isolate the 12v feed from the front battery to the truck and also the rear battery from the front battery. When "on" they would all be connected and when "off" they...
There is always the junkyard option. $150 for a shiny new one doesn't seem toooooo bad. Rock Auto (rockauto.com) has them for $101 + you ship it.

Alternators
The hard parts are available thru carquest or auto zone ect. The internals are mounted and wired so as to isolate them. I had to learn this the hard way, :razz: meaning I cracked it open and went looking for the individual parts and didnt tell them what they were in. AndrewH
