I have a question regarding the wreckers......Ive never seen one - only in pics....but from what I can see they appear to be rotating CRANE trucks .....Im not seeing any underlift or anything else to keep a towed vehicle - in tow-
all I can see is a crane hook -what am I missing?.....how do...
"I recently replaced the driver's side head gasket. I used a +0.010 larger Fel-Pro gasket for the 6.2L. I only had the head's resurfaced, I didn't have them machined"
WHAT?......Im reading .010 over bore gaskets used and wondering how you have the heads resurfaced - without machining...
great detail - exceptional modeling skills for sure....just think maybe an insurgent Iraqi getting the short end of the stick would be easier to look at
R Racing- can you share what kind of air filter/regulator and oiler that you have found works well?.....Name brand - - model /part # and what kind of oil do you like for the oiler?...what pressure do you set the regulator at - and why ?
any pics of the M920 rear suspension?....I cant imagine it not being a hendrickson design --
---because of my inexperience with these trucks I am asking questions that might seem basic to those that know and use these trucks ----I mean no disrespect by asking again when Im not clear HOW the...
ok - so there are two guys with totally different opinions -
anybody else ?
since there is a m920 variant that is a heavy dump truck - I would be lead to believe that it CAN take heavy loads on the rear springs and side loads on the frame - when the loaded truck dumps and isnt on perfectly...
thank you 73M819....im not copying your transmission - could you please LONGHAND what you mean? - cause i was thinking the M920 is a 75,000 gvw truck
you said- "also is the 920 frame double, triple, and spring lockouts would be needed for the rear suspension so it take the working load when...
like m16ty says..... +
you have to weld like you know what youre doing though - otherwise you will have about 5 minutes of the best posi you ever had and then BOOM !......dont even think about it - if you EVER take it off dirt or loose stone.....pavement will make you sorry pretty quick.
"I am an old Marine 3531 from Desert Storm so I can drive them but can’t fix them"
pretty bold move - planning on driving an unknown truck 1600 miles with no fix'in skills----good luck
the new ford scorpion diesel in 2011 f series trucks uses a air to water intercooler - I think the advantage is primarily size of the intercooler can be greatly reduced because water conducts heat much better than air.....therefore compromises because of space limitations are minimized or...
a 5 speed auto is probably computer controlled - if its even possible it make it work - you will be spending some $$$$$$$$$ for control module interface...check with someone like Sun Coast Transmissions
my guess is youre gonna find its big money
bell housing is part of the transmission - the fancy procedure mentioned in previous posts as shown on tv - costs hundreds of dollars for the new bell housing and whatever a machine shop charges for machining off your cracked one...
this is nothing new - at least 40 years ago drag racers did...
looks like its cracked where the front pump seal is - if its welded you need to take out the front pump so the seal doesnt melt-----grind it out and drill a small hole at the end of each crack to prevent crack from continuing-weld- put back together
this is all speculation - most straight...
junkyard is easiest - if they give you some kind of warranty thats its good
if you like your tranny - take it out and bring it to a good weld shop....a good welder should be able to give you an honest answer on if it can be repaired
on the bellhousing - if its welded in stages and not really...
forklift damage that wasnt visible from GL forklift?
can you get it welded up - depending on how its cracked a good tig welder or spool gun mig welder might fix it if crack is not on the fluid section of the tranny itself - just the bellhousing
junkyards should have t400 - check around
I was thinking that I would want to keep the A3 hood & make new side panels...are you telling me the A3 and a2 are the same body - with a different front clip?
Ive never laid eyes on one of these - from what I understand the brake pedal goes thru the floor - like the 1950s civi trucks...so the...
Ace- that dog avatar brings a smile everytime I see it
Wasnt trying to "insult" the A3s looks......but its common for you fellas to make the trucks look better with all kinds of mods - including crew cab conversions.....
I dont know what they were thinking when they designed the A3 - doesnt...
