Yeah, I think so too...I'll be starting a ground up bed off restoration with a motor rebuild, steering gear rebuild, axle rebuild, and a correct magnesium friendly paint job. I'll post lots of pics!
Thanks! I do have the door by the driver's seat...maybe the date was stamped when the motor was replaced? I'll sand the plate and see if I can get any more info...
I am the proud new owner of a Mule! It has the 2 cylinder engine, 4 wheel steering, and the remains of a pull start. The plate has been painted, but I can see "2 66" stamped into the plate.
How can I tell what model it is? (A2-A4) Do I need to sand the plate?
I intend to restore the...
For what it's worth, my cousin had a preluber on his Ford Ranger pickup. He would turn the key on, hit the luber switch until the oil light turned off, and then start the motor. He got over 500,000 miles out of the motor. Made me a believer.
As far as "cobbling" things together goes, I get...
Would it be possible to use a 24v starter motor attached to a power steering pump? The motor could also serve as a spare in a pinch...I don't know what a power steering pump flows, but I'm thinking a coupler like the one used on the Oasis off-road air compressor could work.
Does your mule have 4 wheel steering? I was under the impression that a5s just had front wheel steering...I'm a newbie to the Mule scene. Gonna pick up one soon!
I found a set for another set of Rockwells RDS90 I think. They are 8 bolt and 30 spline. Do you think I can get a different gear to fit the 16 spline? I hear mile marker is a pain to deal with...
How much do the canisters hold? That site has a system that can hold 2.5 quarts pressurized...I doubt the filters hold that much, but I don't know for sure. Maybe the prelubicator system with a pump drive would be better? I want my motor to last as long as possible, with fuel costs rising I...
What about the pressurized lube system? www.autoenginelube.com I'm not sure how this is better than using a powered electric pump...anyone have experience with either?
These trucks might have some of the parts you're looking for...two auger trucks in these pics. The one on the right in the first picture and the one in the background in the other. Both gassers. The yard is in Plainview, TX and is called McDonald's Trading Post. I can look for you next time...
There are 2 M34s in the yard, both auger/pole setting trucks. They are both gassers and are pretty rough. The county owned them for a while, and it looks like they didn't know how to take care of the equipment. The winches are torn up and the auger is in pieces. I'll take more pics this week...
Everything's for sale...He won't part anything out, and is a bit pricey in my opinion for gassers. 2-3000 bucks for most of the trucks, but I'm not sure about the crane. I'll find out when I go back through. This guy has a LOT of salvage equipment. He would come in after a gov auction in the...
I think the pig reference comes from the shape of a more conventional axle, like a Dana 60. If you look at the centersection from the side, it resembles the head of a pig... :?
