I was moving coal for my brother yesterday a short distance on private roads so i thought i would do a little test to see where the limits are for my truck. I have stock deuce front springs on the back and 395 tires on stock rims. my truck is not shortened. all the wheel cylinders, the master...
Booger; i used stock deuce front springs and hangers.
Mark2X2; braking seems good. i rebuilt the airpak, master cylinder and all the wheel cylinders. i haven't tried but i believe it would skid the tires.
Lonesome715: even with the bigger tires it seems peppier if thats a word. around town...
the stock line ended between the axles with a rubber line going forward and back. as long as you placed the axle somewhere in between you should be able to find a rubber line the same length as one side of the old rubber line and use that. if you moved the axle way forward just cut the line...
After a lot of thinking I decided not to shorten my bed yet. here are pics of how it looks with 46" tires. only have about 200 miles on it so far but those have been fun. haven't carried much weight with it yet about 4000lb but it handled that with ease. so far i would not go back.
I have now rebuilt the wheel cylinders the airpak and the mastercylinder. I then built a pressure bleeder and bled the brakes. Ta Da good pedal. installed the rearend and rebuilt hood hinges. It was then time to take it for fuel. so here is my first picture on the road. sorry about the crappy...
Just a little something to think about. As you swivel the crane to place your load in the bed the tailgate is going to want to close very rapidly when the load gets forward of the crane centerline.
progress report
I know i will get chit for so few pics but it's dogheads fault he kept me busy with a tour of his compound today. at least thats my excuse. i have started my bob and have the rears out and got springs from John Apple at least i think thats his name. got my oil filter adapters...
Finally to the point where I need a set of springs and hangers to bob my deuce. I had planned on getting them from koublos but when I called he said he was out of them. So anyone near Syracuse n.y. have a set they will part with. I am willing to drive a couple hundred miles and I have cash. I...
another person who deserves an attagirl is Jackie! sounds like a keeper. most women i know wouldn't have made the trip, let alone kept a positive attitude.
Jimma, did you ever find a gen. i have two spares that came with my truck and i could let you have one for shipping to help your cause. i haven't looked in the tm but I'm sure there is a way to test them in there that i could do before i mailed it out.
i have this ratchet head with a 44" handle from my days working on heavy equipment. i have put over 10 ft of pipe on this thing and in 20 +years never hurt it. now for the down side. i have more money in it and the sockets than in my deuce.
jersey i'm in the process of doing the same thing. i'm a hobby machinist and projects like this are why i started this in the first place. when i get mine done i will post more details. maybe some cad drawings if i get the time. have cam software also but no cnc equipment yet. i could **** out...
every navy plane i worked on whale, s3, ea6b and f14 had lift points. they require removing small body panels on the top of the aircraft for access and should be plainly marked just like the jacking points. i saw many f4s lifted and if i remember correctly they had three lift points two in the...
fake chief
he wasn't really a chief for three reasons.
1. no cigarette hanging from his mouth.
2. no coffee cup in his hand.
3. he was actually working.
those were CPO coveralls though. perfectly clean after all those years.
Roy Andrews FCC(SW)
some pics from syracuse. steel soldiers help each other out. DH had problems with front axle engagement and had to bail on the box crossing then it caused him to get high centered on the cars.
