    Trans. from CO to CA

I might could get it off the base for you and hold it if that would help you out, but if all goes well I might be starting a new job soon so I wouldn't have time to haul it to you. PM me if you need help with getting it off base. Later, Joe

    ford cucv

Ford did not offer a dually 4x4 with a pickup bed until the 1999 Super Duty trucks came out. Centurion conversions did most of the DRW conversions on the SRW 4x4 trucks but I have also seen several other trucks that had the bed swapped and spacers put on the axles. Cab and Chassis trucks could...

    cucv charging system m1009

Pull the small two wire plugs off of each alternator and clean them up. Also pull off the ground wire and clean its connector as well. Gen 2 is the back battery's alternator, so it's not working. If cleaning the connections doesn't fix it, then you're going to have to rebuild or replace the...

    Problem this morning, need help.

The wires to the starter relay under the dash should test to the following specs: Multimeter negative lead grounded Red - 24V all the time Purple/white - 12V with key in START position Purple - 24V with key in START position and relay installed. If you jumped the starter solenoid with a...

CUCV wont start, got clicking sound then fuses blow-PLEASE HELP

Oh, I just thought of something else... where did you get your starter from? If it was not from a military supplier, it is probably 12V and that is not going to work with the rest of the truck in stock form. Later, Joe

    Got my 1031s

All residue (parts) vehicles are supposed to be completely drained of fluids before turn in to DRMO. Make sure you check the bottom of the power steering pump for a punch hole (that's how they drained the two parts trucks I bought) and the transmission pan. Later, Joe

    M1010 axles v/s M1008

Just because it has it now doesn't mean that it was delivered to the Army that way. If you want to verify whether your friend's 1010 had a LSD from the factory, look on the sticker in the glove box or on the driver's side inner fender and get the front axle code. Post it up here so we can...

CUCV wont start, got clicking sound then fuses blow-PLEASE HELP

A fusible link is as taildragger says, a smaller gauge wire in line with a larger gauge wire. The smaller piece of wire will burn out before the larger wire will, therefore saving the rest of the circuit. Because it's a piece of wire, not a thin strip of metal like a fuse, it doesn't melt...

CUCV wont start, got clicking sound then fuses blow-PLEASE HELP

Welcome to the site. First off, fuses do not equal fusible links. Fuses are a good temporary solution, but they aren't designed to take any overload at all while a fusible link can take a very short term overcurrent situation without popping. The blue/red wire is for the fuel burning heater...

    M1010 axles v/s M1008

From the parts manuals, the only ones that came factory with a trac-lock in the front are the 1031 and 1028A1. Basically if it has a 205 transfer case, it has a trac-lock if it's still factory stock. Later, Joe

LMC Rear Window Regulator Goes Out In Record Time!

If you do have a machine shop make an improved version, be sure to make it available here. I'm sure other people might want to take advantage of the upgrade. Later, Joe

M 1031 Farm Contact Service Truck

I think he needs the actuator assembly... Woodward Governor still sells them. I'll see if I can get the contact info from my friend who ordered one. Later, Joe

    body armor/run-flat tires?

Just use phone books like Mythbusters did.... rofl Seriously though, there are several methods of armoring a vehicle, depending on the level of protection you want and if you want 'homebrewed' or professional quality. For runflats, I'd second the recentered HMMWV wheels and runflats. The 12...

    CUCV2 Manuals

All of the CUCV Manuals are still on LOGSA... I just checked. Does anyone have a NSN for a CUCVII? Later, Joe

Please forgive me for such a dumb question (voltage related)...

Yes, it will work that way. Same as a solargizer. Later, Joe

Please forgive me for such a dumb question (voltage related)...

You can charge the batteries individually without disconnecting anything. Just hook the cables up normally to each battery but not across both and you'll get 12V. Just don't let any clamps or anything touch metal on the rear negative and you'll be fine. Later, Joe

No lights, but everything else works

Yea, that's the drain tube. Try tightening up the thumbscrew at the top where it goes into the filter block. The screw is on the driver's side of the injection pump where the linkage is. It's a screw with a spring on it. I haven't done anything to my truck, other people have used dynamat...

    My new M1031 & ???

Yes, the VIN is different for the 1031 from the 1008. The third digit will be a B if it's a 1031 and a C if it's a 1008. Later, Joe

No lights, but everything else works

    1. Which tube? The bottom tube is the drain, try tightening it up. 2. Swap the left and right alternators. If the Gen 1 light comes on instead of Gen 2, you've isolated the problem to the alternator. 3. You can adjust the idle screw a little bit to get the same effect as holding the pedal a...

    MORE CUCV Alternator Questions

Sounds like a good plan... Let me give you a simplistic little lesson on electricity that will help you with the amps/volts/ohms thing: Think of electricity as water, and your battery as a reservoir of water. Voltage is the equivalent of pressure Amperage is the equivalent of rate of flow Ohms...
