ca1517,
I think you hit the nail on the head, where perhaps I did not spell it out perfectly. My original post was for new MV purchases, where biodiesel has sat in a half filled tank for a prolonged period of time. They report the newer vehicles, or the vehicles which are regularly run, do not...
I would like to suggest, the deleting of the first post, should not delete the entire thread.
This is the manner in which it works now.
In this manner, the OP cannot delete the contributions by other members on the thread, or an entire thread by deleting that one post.
From what he says, the bio diesel here is made from corn and peanuts.
He works on these things 8 hours a day for a living, and reports the govt M series did not have this exacting problem before the biodiesel contracts.
Good to know. I'll be picking up my first one in a week or two. I had not considered that. I believe they were made for the HMMWV, which, I guess, is wider than a pickup.
I agree with the rest of em. The M101A2 is better, the M101A3 is best, unless you can get ahold of a M1101/1102 series trailer, all of which have surge brakes. The M105 is 1000 pounds heavier, taller, and has air brakes over hydraulic, so with the extra 1000 pounds empty, you're off to a bad...
In response to several questions on availability, I don't have new ones, but will have some off a M-105 in a couple weeks after I get back from a cruise. PM me for pictures if interested on the first week in March when I get back. They are not the NDT style though, but are Michelin X style 11X20...
I met a friend who I haven't seen in years early this morning and we discussed the M series MVs. He is a diesel mechanic at Robins, and a really good one. He avoids the M series due to all the problems with the fuel systems. In the next bay, a friend of his works the M series deuce and 5 tons...
I'm under the impression all tracks are still there.
Not only are they still there, they are available to Mods with the priviledges granted to them by the Admin to go back and review them. They are simply not there for the general public to see.
And not only are they all there, but they...
So much for the solicitation for "Self Policing"
I often rethink my position based on comments received. I try to keep an open mind. If I find myself to be wrong, or off the track, I prefer to delete the thread I started as it, IMHO, offers more confusion, less content than the desired...
Recovery,
What size is that portable air tank? You got any pictures of your setup. I think I would like to duplicate that, but not sure how large of a tank I need. I have a friend here who bought about 50 airtanks from a HEMMT or something, and they might work. Oval shaped, and if stood upright...
Are those gears suppossed to mesh where they help each other out. I think I'm doing something wrong with the geared lug wrench. Not sure how to use it. I feel dumb.
If you got it at the correct angle, you could probably bump it and break it loose. I would not go more than a few inches, and you need a second person to watch it on the ground.
In any case, you motivated me to get out in this cold wind and break a tire off my M1061. With my Gimpy geared lug...
They should fit lateral wise over the rails. Also, you should go back and buy them all, and sell them at your next rally. If I'm right, and they fit just right over the rails, you'll sell them all for double your money at that price. They are nice to have, and beats sleeping on the floor or a mat.
Then pump it full of air, bring immediately to the tire shop, and let them put the big compressor air wrench to it. I had to do that one time on one of my M105s. I've removed 20 tires off it without major issue, but one would just not go until he put the largest wrench and compressor of all on...
emmado, (or anyone else) I was trying to research the weight of that aluminum bed. Any ideas? I found the weight of the axles, and the total weight of the trailer, but not the aluminum bed by itself.
