Facts: You can't carry enough tools, to take care of all the possible failures that "might" occur. It wasn't that many years ago, that all vehicles had single circuit brakes - we just used them, because we didn't know any better.
With regular maintenance, you'll gain a lot of confidence in...
The motor to the pump is a magnetic drive. Sometimes the drive fails, but the motor keeps running, as it should. Or the pump comes apart, and doesn't pump. I can't explain the bubbles. Mine has an 1/8NPT at the top of the pump - you can put a guage on it there. !st thing though, is to...
"Micro Lock", line brake, etc..... The M211s,w/w that I have (3 each), were setup with the electricly controlled brakes. I always thought it was a stock item, along with then mechanical parking brake. I always used the latter, and never got onto using the micro lock. I just didn't trust it.
Another option is to mount a second trailer plug on your truck, which is 12 volts. Using either the "RV" or the commercial 7 round pin plug. I used the latter, with an adapter for the RV plug.
That muffler would make anybody proud. But I don't understand the "exploding" part. Back in the old days, I drove those trucks all over the North, thousands of miles, & never had a muffler backfire.
I'm glad to see the enthuasiam for them. It makes me want to go out & kick tires in my bone...
A few times I've wanted to prime or flush a fuel system - quick. I've taken a shop rag in my hand an a blow gun in the other. Stick the blow gun in the neck of the tank, cover it over with the rag & hand, while discharging the blow gun into the tank. Be careful, depending on the pressure of...
Welcome to the site.
There is often considerable deferred maintenance on these machines. Cleaning corrosion & the dielectric grease is good. There are electrical cleaners or maybe WD40. That switch can be a problem. Work it back & forth with some WD40 - other switches as well. Keeping the...
There was an A3 for sale here in Delta a couple of months ago, sitting in front of the coop farm store. I didn't hear that it ever sold. You might give them a call and see who had it - if they know. Good Luck
Very interesting. I used to work with a Guy that flew those. He was involved in some of the speed trials. Seems like one of the records involved flying it to France. He was one of the pilots & showed a portrait in front of the plane showing him and another with all the paint burned off the...
The Vise when mounted, is special, and used often. But it should be mounted correctly too - mounted far enough forward so that one can clamp something (bar stock, etc.), so that it can hang down in front of the bumper.
Your going to have into it, the same money or more, that you would have in a good runner, PLUS a TON of time. Do you have a good place to work on it? Even on a good runner, there is plenty of work to do on it!
We should make up a FLAT RATE BOOK, for the major jobs - brakes, engine swap...
