The plastic lines are the fuel return lines, and are low pressure. Any leak in them will just drool. The steel lines that go between the injector pump and the injectors are very high pressure. When they leak, you will get a fine spray. Usual place for them to leak is at the fitting nut. The...
An engine that is very slightly hydrolocked, can sometimes blow a liquid spray past the head gasket when the piston hits the liquid. It will also make a heck of a thump, and usually won't start.

Do not use your fingers or hands to try and find that leak!
The high pressures involved will inject the diesel into your skin in a flash.
Clamp a small square of paper in a hemostat, or something that will keep your hands back, and probe it around the area you think the spray is coming from...
Oh, and for those that keep quipping that whenever they drive their MV's they are on view of the public, so it is a show, or display: Forget about it! The SB404 is quite explicit that these HMV's will only be on the road for special events, and for transportation to and from special events...
I just finished watching the Feb 23 Senate proceedings:
When SB392 and SB404 reached their appointed time, they weren't ready, so they were moved to the foot of the calender (eg, end of day). When they were ready, SB392 had its 5 amendments brought up for vote, they all passed. Then...
OD Iron sells good brake parts for a reasonable price. You can also buy from NAPA, as there is nothing special about the deuce's wheel cylinders. The master cylinder should be available too.

Oh, on DOT5's color: I keep a small jar with a 50:50 quantity of DOT3 and DOT5 in it. The first time I shook it up the purple dye came out of the DOT5 and colored the DOT3. DOT5 without dye is yellow.
I give the jar a shake from time to time... it makes a disgusting OD colored emulsion...
Synthetic oil is just oil in a more pure form. Rather than being a soup of all sorts of different oil like substances (like natural dino oil), it is all the same oil like substance. It shouldn't affect the seals one way or another. The problem with leaky seals on some vehicles is caused...
Naturally, just as you can damage rims and tires by missing with your maul. I can't tell you how many rims I have seen that have been damaged by tire guys that thought they were better with the maul than they really were.
The key point to using an outrigger, or other moose powered method for...
That stuff is too thin for a diesel. Its viscosity is 5cST at 212F, which makes it an SAE 10 oil. Way too thin when the engine warms up.
On the bright side, it probably did about as good a job as kerosene would of cleaning out the sludge in your engine.
Dump it and put some 15W40 in its...
I think that before I trusted a deuce muffler to protect my hearing, I would put a sound meter in the cab and see how loud it really is. Your ears are self adapting to loud sounds (just like your nose gets used to lingering odors), and are not a good judge of how loud is too loud. I would bet...
It will work. It isn't the best oil you can buy, but it is a good straight mineral oil that is typical of the oils made when the deuce was designed....
That said, modern oils are so much better than the oils that existed when the deuce was designed that they almost single handedly tripled the...
I drove my deuce home from Wisconsin to Maryland, about 1100 miles. It was an adrenaline charged thrill from the moment I sat in the truck until I got home. I liked the trip so much that I am giving serious consideration to taking her back for a vacation trip.... except that that trip would be...
Also, the truck driver carrying freight is making money off of the road system, and because of his size, and the high number of miles he drives, he is causing a disproportionate amount of wear to the highways. It is only fair that he should be charged more for his use of the highways.
We, on...
The flame pre-heater simply injects fuel into the intake manifold, and has a spark plug to ignite it. It lights a diesel fuel fire in the intake manifold.
If you are not cranking, there is a very limited supply of air for the flame pre-heater to burn, so it will soot for a little while, and...
