As always, thanks and good work Peashooter! Can you add the following to your original post? It’s really handy to have all of the info in one spot.
Cup
1 3/8 Dorman 857 \ UP 857
1 1/2 Dorman 725 \ UP 725
There’s also the issue of the copper washers for the banjo fittings. Comparing my...
Good luck! If you can, I highly recommend bleeding out the brakes. My truck had terrible corrosion in the wheel cylinders and I hope others avoid what I've went through fixing it.
Reaper get the basics dialed in before getting into too much hotrod stuff. I've been at it for a year and am shopping for parts and wondering if my front axle in a boat anchor...
This is a cut and paste of my youtube video for bypassing the FDC:
How-to video of me doing it real time.
McMaster part numbers I used:
5583K48 Abrasion-Resistant White ETFE Tubing, .278" ID, 3/8" OD, .048" Wall, Semi-Clear White
50915K615 Brass Sleeve for 3/8" Tube OD, Brass Compression Tube...
Another option is to install a 1/4 turn valve in the fuel feed line in an accessible location. Leave it off when not used and turn it on in the event you need it.

Hey we met at the Chehalis event last summer. I'm the guy with the other desert tan truck similar to yours. When you arrived I asked about the KVM lockouts.
I helped my buddy do all three of his axles with the whole brake system at the same time. Now we have my truck apart and are...
I agree with sandcobra164. The FDC has a leak path that can allow fuel to leak into the oil. If you bypass it you may solve the problem and you'll likely appreciate the change in performance. I have a video on youtube that kinda walks you through it.
This is a wonderful thread, thanks everyone that provided info, ideas, support, etc!
I’m going through the entire brake system, seal replacement, etc. on my truck. The rears are largely done and I’m working on the front now. Similar to many other findings by folks here, my truck was in terrible...
Thanks guys for the info. I ordered a pair of Dorman w37317 to put on the front of my truck. I'll stick with the stock (sized, will install new on both rears because my fronts were terribly pitted inside) ones for the rear. I'll also stick with the single circuit system and have a new MC and...
WOW Thanks! I'm digging around for them on the web now. It looks like this is actually an old design that was used by White, Dodge, IH, etc. back in the day. Crap they have then on the Summit web site, but not in stock.
Nice thread, been watching it for some time. Do any of you have a part number and source for the oversized wheel cylinders? Going from 1.375 to 1.5 is about a 20% increase in surface area, so I would expect roughly a 20% boost in braking power. I llike it! My front axle is completely apart...
Can you forward me the magazine article of a link for the short air pac rebuild? I found one for the long version, but not the short.
Yes, DOT 5 normally turns yellowish after some time period. I've made the same observation and the motorcycle community has numerous similar observations.
My batteries are Group 24 deep cycle batteries and nearly 7 years old. The truck sat much of the winter in a barn waiting to get the front axle rebuilt. After sitting for ~3-4 months it could not crank over well enough to start in the cold. I think much of it is the age of the batteries, they...
WOW! This thread is getting interesting. Many thanks to all of the guys providing info.
Special thanks to rustystud, I was not aware of any different cams for these beasts. I’ll poke around and see if I can find TM 9-2815-210-35 (it is mentioned in the base operator manual). In general I...
