Hello Hndrsonj,
Thanks for the reply and my apologies for asking for help so much,
As I only did that, when I did not know something about a problem,
and when I did search, sometimes I could not find a solution to my problem.
But the more I read here, and the more I work with it myself...
Hello Regulator,
Thanks for the advice, that is all I wanted to do, just some safe, sane & mild off-roading.
But not until I get it running again, and I do some repairs & upgrades to make it
mechanically sound.
Thanks and good night,
CJ
Hello Regulator,
Thanks for the suggestion.. That is all I had in mind, I did not want to make some epic journey of a road trip, I'd be happy to find a vacant dirt lot somewhere around here,
that may be a little muddy, not enough to get stuck in.
Just to give the 4wd some use to keep it...
Big_Red,
Thank you for all the useful information.
It all sounds like fun, as long as people follow advice like yours, and be careful,
and properly prepared, equipped, etc..
As I was saying, I would not want to do anything wild or crazy anyway,
more like just take it slow, & easy.
So I...
Hi Guys,
Thanks again for the advice, I was not planning on doing anything wild & crazy..
I just thought it would be fun to run around a little on some dirt roads/trails,c.
Just to get the ****ed dirty is all.. LOL..
But Big_Red, please explain "Crazy", as in your statement.. "All I meant...
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the tips, and the advice to keep it on the pavement.
I do not want to break it, so I guess I will not go off-road with it,
unless it is an emergency, and I cannot avoid it.
Getting it dirty was just a passing thought anyway.
But I have been trying to learn as...
Thanks Will,
I am sure they will..
I am in no hurry, since it will be a few days yet before I get it running anyway.
Thanks for the comment though..
But If I was still living in Los Angeles, I already know where I can go.. LOL
Have a good night,
CJ
Hi Guys,
I am just wondering..
Once I get my M1009 running properly, and fix a couple of things.
Where can I go off-road so I can get it really dirty?
Maybe do a little climbing too..
Any ideas? Comments? Suggestions?
I already know I should not go alone, in case I get stuck, that is...
Hi guys,
Thanks for the tips & info. guys, Now I know what to do with my pineapple.
Since my gearshift is on the column, I will try to use it on my 4wd transfer lever,
on the floor.
Good night
CJ
Hi guys,
Thanks for the information and the photos.
They may help me solve my '85 M1009 alternator issues too..
One thing I will do, is the doghead mod, once I do get it running again.
Happy Thanksgiving, God bless all of you...
CJ
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the information and photos in this thread.
Since I am now having alternator issues with my '85 M1009,
all of this may help me solve my problems, especially the Alternator photo,
that shows each connection labelled on the back side.
Happy Thanksgiving, God bless all of you...
Hi all,
Thanks for the heads up on the links to pictures, I must have overlooked those.
Well considering the paint job, it should NOT be hard to spot for me when I am out on the road.
Wish me luck.. I am here to help.
Good day, and Happy Thanksgiving.
CJ
Hi guys,
Again, thanks for all the information.
I would like to go with a new one, but so many of you have said to rebuild,
I may go that route instead.
But on autozone part # DL7157, I looked at the photos on their website,
and the photo that shows the backside of that alternator only...
Regulator,
I am sorry to hear that, hope it all works out for you, and you get the truck back,
or at very least all the money that is owed to you.
Do you happen to have any photos of it?
That way we have a better chance of spotting it on the road or in a shop, etc.
I am a professional...
