It's a 72 kaiser m35a2 with the 456 Hercules multifuel. The fuel in it was horrible and smelled like turpentine. All 3 filters were changed and the tank was drained as best as possible ( the bottom has a massive dent so there is still old crap fuel in the low spots as the drain was the high...

I understand about not having oil up top yet, and the high rims. I am hoping if this works that I can get off the pedal quick enough. I am sure there should be a window of opportunity for a few seconds to catch it before it runs away.
So if the manifold heater is pumping and I can hear it...

Defiantly !!! yeah your only a few minutes away. Just having starting issues now. ugh...
I talked to the previous owner today and asked him about his starting procedure. He hits the manifold preheat for 1/2 second then hits the starter with his foot to the floor on the pedal. Said it...
:funny:I have always been aware that my spelling is horrible. I truly appreciate your assistance in pointing out the curse of living with A.D.D. that I have had to endure my entire life and how it affected me in school and now this message board.
I usually don't pay much attention to my...
i just have the mushroom sticking right out the side. has anyone ever added a straight piece of tube from the cab right into any part of the air intake so you could spray directly into the tube from sitting in the drivers seat? i know it sounds stupid but seems like it would be a easy fix...
Cool. i need to clarify something in my earlier post. When i said i had to give it a 5 second squirt, that was because by the time i walked back around and climbed in (has the 53"s on it), that was the only amount that would get it going. anything less seemed to evaporate by the time i could...
i watched the exhaust today once it was running. It is perfectly clear at idle but puffs mild white smoke with a tap on the throttle. Any smoke goes away when the idle evens out. Is this a major issue or normal. I think if it was white constantly that would be a problem but a small light...
Thanks gimpyrobb and maccus. That bit of info was drastically the opposite of what the data plate said. I wasn't going to try anything extreme like that in fear of doing damage to a part i know nothing about.
I am just starting to get overwhelmed with all the TM's and trying to find where to...
today it was almost 50˚ out. the plate on the dash says not to run the pre-heat without cranking. as long as it wont hurt anything i will give it a try tomorrow. even tho i am not familiar with hot the preheat functions, i agree that i wouldn't be wise to use it and ether in the same starting...
i down loaded 4 TM's, ( TM9-2320-209-20-2-1, TM9-2320-209-20P, TM9-2320-209-34P, TM9-2320-361-20) these are maintenance and service. I will try to find the starting sequence in a drivers manual.
i will definitely try that tomorrow. Thanks for taking the time to explain about the sequence. if it dosnt start and i am on to the second attempt at cranking, should i put the foot in the pedal again or not?
how difficult of a job is that? i would hate to undergo a PIA process and risk making it worse than it is. if the valves were out, would it really be able to still run as good as it was?
I wonder if it just has some querks?
i have been trying to resist the temptation from putting my foot into it. i read a little about the hydrolock and was "afraid". i only touch the pedal when she starts to catch.
I know 5 seconds is a long shot, but it was the only way i could get it going. everything else i have been fixing...
i have only been able to view it when its idling and it seems to be transparent. i'll try to grab a video of the stack tomorrow. i have never worked with a diesel motor before, thank god i have friends that have. This message board is awesome. everyone has been so helpful on my posts.
When it...
