The red gladhand will have air all the time when the valve is opened. The yellow only recieves air when the brake pedal is pressed. To see if it's working properly without a helper, you can build up air, shut the truck off so you can hear, open the valve at the gladhand and press the brakes. If...
da_sgt, I completely agree. It would be pretty taxing on the compressor IMO so I had planned to do similar to you and add a valve, using my shop compressor to fill it and the trucks compressor as little as possible. Would be nice to find a 24 volt electric compressor.
above plus die grinder and air drill. Just depends on how hard you want to work that compressor. I was thinking of adding additional air capacity to the wrecker.
Yes, Front Line Military Vehicles used to have the kits, not sure if they still do or not. They also have the frame reinforcement kit for the M1009 Blazer.
I'm not too sure on the hydraulic one there. It's got a Char-lyn type steering valve like we use on the monster trucks. I don't see any way that you could possibly mount that steering valve other than by replacing the steering box, which would lose your mechanical backup should anything happen.

LOL, it's always funny when someone asks for your help and can't for the life of them figure out why you'd own such a "worthless piece of green scrap iron". Quote from an ex-neighbor that I pulled out once :)
Don't worry as much about the rain and snow on your canvas..it's the sun that puts the biggest hurt on canvas! I use the good old military canvas treatment with the OD dye in it, but you can't find it available anywhere unless you look really hard. There are commercial treatments like Canvak...

Here's a pic of the muffler installed on my M109A3. It must have been some sort of MWO kit, as this was not a hacked together job, complete with a heat shield and the mount panel was definitely not a field modification. I'll post more pics of it after I resize them.
