Okay, so here is the latest in my fuel saga:
Parts came in for the AC DELCO lift pump this week. I had a few hours yesterday to mess with it. What a blast.
The hard fuel line was not coming off the pump, and the flare nut was boogered badly. I couldn't get any leverage even when I could get...
I tested with pressure the other day, ran 8 psi back through the returns. The tank was pressurized, the tank cap works as it is supposed to, there was no leaking of anything anywhere for 3 hours. I took it off pressure and left cardboard all under it and next day not a drop. I looked it all over...
Okay, another update. Weather has prevented work this week.
So, it's been sitting for a week now since last test. I had forgotten the ground wire that goes to one of the intake bolts last time, so that was cause of electrical issue. I grounded that.
Put bleeder hose/jar onto fuel filter and...
Hey all,
Sorry for delay here. Life and other chores. I scraped up and cleaned all the gaskets and vacuumed again. It's about clean. I tested at the fuel filter for air, it's been sitting about 2 weeks since last attempt to start:
Clear line from bleeder port on filter to container. Open...
Okay, so update here. I finally got a chance to get the intake removed. I don't like the clamps very much that are used on the metal injector pipes :(.
I had a giant rats nest under the intake and I cleaned some of it out by hand. It smelled of diesel. I vacuumed it all out and cannot see any...
Thanks everyone for thoughtful responses. I am going to be able to look at it probably Sunday, busy right now. I will check the supply line to the filter first and see if there is any "missing" hose fill. Based on responses, I am going to start with the intake removal and see what's visible...
Hey All
I had posted this previously in a mods forum here. I am posting my latest and will also post link to the original thread. I am having problems where truck is getting air in the fuel system preventing it from starting and I have not yet located the source of the leak.
Could use some...
Hey fuel system peoples!
I have same problem even after replacing the fuel filter with a custom setup. I am still taking on air and after a day or two after running, it will start right up, for like 5 seconds and then dies. Will not start again unless charged and cranked enough to push the air...
There is no heater and no sensor. The electronics are disconnected. If that's important to you then the filter housing has an extra port that you could use for a heater. The water sensor, I don't think so.
I had a dead truck, so frustrated I was going to get rid of it. I change out the filter...
New filter set using technoweenie parts list
I went with the setup TechnoWeenie posted (THANK YOU!!)
The parts list is all correct except there is one part numbers that amazon mis-labeled, make sure you get the correct ones. I believe it was one of the 3/8" adapters. If you are paying...
I got the parts in and did the job. The Dorman lines 625-154 and 625-155 fit perfect. It was a pretty easy job just have to wrangle them a bit to hook up to the engine. No bending was required. It took more time worrying about it than doing the job. No leaks but we will find out how long they...
Touche, I have been bested. I went with the dorman lines at summit so it's still cheap :). We shall see about easy when they get here. Thanks to all the posters who were helpful....
Drew
Wow.. These lines have been slowly leaking since I bought the truck almost 8 years ago. I didn't mean to start a messup here. I am NOT a cheap and easy guy Mr. Tinstar, so you can take that back - thank you. I am fix it right and fix it cheap. Works good, lasts a long time. If there's a zip tie...
I showed my hydraulic guy a pic and he said he can't fix them, recommended a place that does power steering hoses and told me it would be expensive. I am going to try the hoses and clamps route, will let you all know.
While I was checking it out I fixed my hard/late shift problem - the vac...
Hi all,
I have leaky oil cooler lines and I have done considerable research here, leading me to three possible fixes:
1. get the napa Chinese ones and hope you don't have problems with getting them loose from the fittings on the oil filter housing, etc. Cost about 120 usd
2. build your own...
Thanks everyone for your help. Just wrapped up only thing left is I need to pick up the coolant overflow tank that I ordered tomorrow and a new air filter while I am at it. I stronly suggest getting a better source for inner fenders other than LMC. The passenger fender was a complete debacle and...
That's a nice looking truck for only two pictures. I would say that's a reasonable ask price. What are you going to pull with a dually on a 138 hp is what I want to know? It has a bunch of aftermarket gauges from the looks of it and the interior is about as nice as I have ever seen. I would buy...
The clips and stuff were the easy part.. THanks though I did find them at local place relatively inexpensive. The LMC fenders require a lot of modifications and I am not super with fabricating skills. This one has required so many grindings and test fits and I am still messing with it. Hopefully...
need 8 clips and 5 of the 1/2" bolts......I think I found them on LMC I was kinda hoping there might be something local but I guess it's going to have to sit in a million pieces while I wait for shipping. Thanks to cucvrus for offering up.. .. -
Drock thanks I guess clips isn't the proper...
