You may have to google this but I think there is a Brute Force U-joint on the market that is tough and greasable. I actually have one or two of them in 1310 form on my one shop bench from early M715 days...
Steering may feel "loose" because more toe in is needed. Usually the larger the tire the more the toe in to keep them from wandering.
LOOKS GREAT, btw!!!
Mudguppy...I wouldn't even bring the 6.0 up after the trillion engine recall. 8)
M880 Unimog...I know the Cummins is super popular but if you look at the results for the big dyno shootouts in the diesel magazines you'll see the Cummins getting edged by the Duramax 9 time out of 10. You also...
A compact industrial engine offered in a civilian truck with more than 1,000 more rpm available, over 200hp more and anyone want to talk about the mountain of torque over stock multifuel? Oh, and it'll prolly double the fuel milage of that 460. The '03 I had got 18mpg pulling 11,000 lbs...
Vents, or lack thereof, will do that. When I took the Mog on it's first big trip it was only like 55 miles but an hour and 40 min drived time. When I got home I noticed oil droplets all over the rear of the truck and undercarriage. It was pushing oil out of one of the PTO seals. Ended up...
Nice look with the hubs out! Lends itself to a more Eastern European truck look as it seems lots of them are singled out from the getgo and have a similar look. Looks great!
JWaller or others: When the five ton hubs are left flipped in is the track width the same front and rear? I know...
This *may* help; keep in mind that you have the height of the main truck frame plus you have whatever height the frame of the bed to be put on is going to be so that gives you more room to nest it under the bed. I mounted a 20,000lb Garwood under a deuce bed already behind the tandems. Once...
I have a piston, pin, and rod assembly from a multifuel on the shelf at my desk at work. A buddy tore one down, cleaned, painted the rod and gave it to me. It's pretty neat. It's pretty friggin heavy too...and heavy in the wrong places like the piston is heavy, the SOLID pin is heavy. The...
Topo, I have serious question with the use of the pneumatic cylinder on the in/out clutch on the winch...mainly because you said it could be operated from inside or outside the truck. ?!? Outside the truck means that you are relying solely on the air cylinder to kick the winch clutch out and...
Mogs make up for this with gearing. The 20 speed transmission for example is basically the six speed with the cascade box with the extra low ranges in front of it. They are meant for PTO speed matching where you need PTO rpm and slow, slow wheel speed like snow blowing as a good example.
It's a 3 point hitch like a farm tractor...so anything that can pin on to a tractor (basically...there are different sizes of 3pt hitches) will fit. I'm going with class 1 so it's the same as my John Deere. I can hook a wood carrier, log splitter, 'T' bar hitch, my forklift back plate, blade...
Please keep in mind that if you're pulling a low weight load and lose the shear pin, be careful not to burn your hand on the winch brake cover. ;)
...alright, I'll be helpful... -or check to see if the shear pin hole in the yoke is egg shaped. Extra play is not a friend with an aluminum...
Jesusgatos, here's an example of the Case Deck pin on models. Sorry the pics are crappy...for some reason the attachment thing was telling me my good pics were .bmp's. ??
Floridianson- I'm voicing direct experience on the Garwood 10,000 pounders and the Garwood 20,000 pound units. I'm not hiding anything even disclaiming a conversation with an engineer from a specific winch company. I winch more than a lot of people so I can say what I say without speculation...
One of my next couple of projects for my 'Mog is going to be a 3 point hitch so I can use some of my John Deere's attachments on it. Just be handy now and them. They have factory 3 point hitch set ups but the mounts on the axle, I've been told, can be busted if they take a decent hit. Anyway...
Or...save yourself a winch problem down the road and not put it back in- nobody will know with the cover back on and the bolt mocked up. They have a way of deciding to start making heat (grabbing) for what seems like no reason at all and could possibly cause a 3 ton pull to shear the pin from...
