I got home and looked over some notes I was just wondering why you used the hime joints on the axle. Seems alot of people use simple bushings and a hime on the front end.
Samsimpson Please go ahead and take a good pick of your set up. I like your set up. My application will be slightly lighter but that is a whole different story.
Just to add another wrinkle how about Marine tanks.
Moeller Marine Below Deck Fuel Tank — 29 Gallon, Model# 032629 | Auxiliary-Transfer Tanks | Northern Tool + Equipment
I'm sure a good boat salvage house would have a few laying around and your dimensions seem to be pretty close to under...
Well I wish I could vote early and often for your project!!! Good luck.
I was actually thinking four traction motor V-100. Then the track bug raised its head and the thought of a M113 came to mind. But a Weasel now that I think could be fun.
hey welcome from the southern Gainesville
Get you a set of torches, learn on that for welding you will then pick up any welding faster because you will have a good idea of heat control. Welding and MV you will never leave a single piece of rusty metal alone again.
Turbine welder? I would think the hybrid is the only way with the constant shaft speed. Large hydraulic or electric is the only useable adaption I can think of. One bad a$$ dixie chopper.

Don't use a chain fall. It was not designed for that, use a lever chain hoist. Also please look up proper rigging techniques there is more than enough info here. We want everyone to be safe and keep their limbs and favorite appendages.

So are you turbo'n the Nissan or going the 4bt rout? I find it really funny the three of us have been called out for this banter already. I had planned to go up to SC and pick that up and scrap the counter weight before coming back south. I am really happy someone picked it up in this group...
I wanted that project DrJekl so I am tuned in with popcorn ready. Good luck what is the plan going to keep the flat bed or go with a stretch and trailer box?
Appropriate block and long cable. Use a lever chain hoist if you really have to. Cable come-along will just be too much hassle. Look around I imagine unless you have access to the appropriate rigging it would be cheaper to pay some one.
Oh yeah, have alot of fun. Good luck and take alot...
