Today I won some 1600s, Finally. Got a good deal too (IMO)... Now this....
I got a phone call tonight from a buddy saying that all of the tire lots that sold today at Ft. Lewis are being pulled. They have run flats in them and the Gov. got picky about that. Now all of the tires new or not are...
Yes and it sounds like it is fighting its self. This is not good. Read the -10 op manual. You can download it here on the site. Once at a stop with your foot on the break, before taking off, shift it into reverse and then into first. This will reset the sprag. Always take off from first and...
Yes they were very very filthy!! I watched the auction too. Could be some scrap guy that does not care how much they are he just wants to cut them up and make money, or a newb that did not know better like we were when we bought that high priced one. lol
The glad hand valves leak the brakes use air and the glad hands. The Tranny uses it for the sprag. That is why you hear it when you go in and out of reverse. It is telling it what direction you are going so that when the 6x6 engages it does not break things. That is about all I can think of. The...
It all depends on what you want, what it is worth and how much you have. We bought a truck from GL M35A2C 1986 for $3,800 + fees. I know that is a heck of a lot, but we knew that was the best truck on the lot, and it was exactly what we wanted.
To tell you the truth, it is worth every penny!!
I would drain and flush it out and get some good coolant in there. A remote coolant filter kit is a great idea too! Do a search for one. CRANETRUCK has a good thread on this.
It should be bright green coolant, at least mine is. I hope ya checked for leaks before ya bled things off. It is not common or un common to have or not have air leaks on these trucks. Some are ready to run and need nothing for a while and others need lots. Where did you get yours at?
Thanks Ed, the batteries still tested at 12+ volts a piece ea. I have not load tested them yet though. I really hope I did not cook a battery!! I am going to pull the starter off today, but it will not be till next week that I look at it. Opening weekend of sear season and I am starting a new...
Ed,
I had the EXACT thing happen to me about 15 minutes ago. By the time I got my positive cable off it melted the solder and the cable came out of the the terminal. I plan to do as you did to the starter and solenoid. I was wondering if you ever put a master switch in your truck? Pics if ya...
Use either axle
lengthen wires air lines and fix rear brake line accordingly
Use deuce front springs and hangers, or m105 springs have been used ya pretty much have the gist of things
Ours smelled like that once too. It tested great and no leaks. We found that once driving it a few drops did make it out of the over flow tube. So we replaced the cap and it solved the problem. A new cap is like $7-$13 try a new one and look around everything again.
