We had a lineup of a few 5 tons and also wound a front winch line on correctly. A 1972 M818, I think a 1972 M813 and a 1958 M54. Also, anyone ever put a M818 and M813 bumper to bumper. Looks like in one of these pics that the tractor sits higher. Check out the pics.
Need help with might I might be missing for the small jump seat that mounts behind the bed mounted spare tire. I have the pieces in the attached pictures. They have been sandblasted and painted. Are there other parts besides the wood slats that are needed to have all the hardware to mount...
No air line connected to the deuce and the all driveshafts were in place. 24 volt magnetic towing lights were in place on the rear of the truck. Probably would be a good idea to make up an air line that would reach from the tow vehicle to the rear service brake connection on the deuce as much...
I don't what the deal is with towing these trucks but my experience with towing deuces with long, short in between length towbars is that they don't follow the tow vehicle very well at all. Wide turns, tight turns whatever they have their own mind for where the front tires will point during a...
Dave what are you towing them or it with? Was done there Tuesday to pick up truck side racks and a deuce cargo cover that was listed as a M105 trailer cover. Pleasent surprise.
Phill
Yes he did. We had alot of very tight turns getting out of its location and in to its new home so he rode back there for the whole trip and steered for the tight turns. Wasn't a long trip. I think I even heard him back there making engine noises :)
We had one of the easier recovery missions here in Colorado club members have in awhile. Towed a deuce to its new home in Elizabeth, CO from the Black Forest area. About a 45 mile jaunt. Real nice winch truck with hopefully just a minor transfer case problem (reason for the tow). Truck was...
This past weekend the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado were invited to bring some vehicles for display during Lowry Glory Days. The old Lowry Air Force Base houses a very impressive aviation museum. Pretty much two huge old hangars are assorted other buildings are all that are left. We...
My M818 did indeed have a bad oil cooler. After 3 flushes with liquid Tide (coolant side) and 2 oil changes (not fun or cheap) and a 50 mile trip pulling the trailer in the pic, there is no more water and oil and the wrong places. Coolant is oil free and the dipstick shows real oil on it not...
Rattle cans and we will see if Aervo or what they are called have corrected their green turning to pink problem. Its been sitting in the Colorado sun for 6 months and so far OK. We will see.
I agree on what the trailer might look like after liquid lubrication. Might set a pattern type for the military. Yes the tractor was painted recently. Top of hood and hardtop still needs to be done. When the trailer matches, the rig will look pretty good. Before and after pics follow. Wiil...
I use it also in all my motors. It is available in some Walmarts for $5.99. NAPA here sells it for $7.99. When I find a Walmart that has it I buy a few. The stuff really does work.
Will, thanks for the tips once agiain. Its great to have the "Shell Answer Man" on Cummins availble to us. I will find the HE stuff. And no heater so at least that core won't be storing oil.
I was planning on putting some kind of detergent in the cooling system just didn't want to put something in there that would foam up bad but I guess if its under pressure it won't be too bad.
OK the oil cooler seems to be the problem of both oil in the water, water in the oil. I take it since there was significant water in oil and oil in water it will take a few flushes and oil changes to get everything cleaned out. I have it running and there is still evidence of water in the oil...
