Starting current is where your civilian units will fail you. A MEP 003, although rated conservatively at 10KW, with a realistic output of around 14KW will start upwards of 20KW. Show me a comparable civilian unit with a 100% reserve starting capacity.
It is not enough to take into...
I know where the regular Army has a good half dozen deuces in regular use, as I have ridden in the back of them a number of times in the last few weeks.
I too start only in second when unloaded, and can't fathom how there is more torque on that gear during a start than when shifting into second when loaded.
I was thinking a person could drop a couple mil in at after making it seaworthy and bringing everything up to code. But then again, where are you going to get a stell hulled ocean going vessel that large and sturdy for that cheap.
Doesn't rub me the wrong way. But it's funny how my spending bothers a lot of you guys.
As far as the OP, I reserve the right to hassle him as I so choose.
You are looking for the part that everyone with an 003 wants as a spare, and if they have one, it'll take a good amount of cash to get it from them. You are almost better off trying to get another unit for parts.
Mine burps out some antifreeze when I was driving it in the 80's and 90's. Just enough to irritate my because my overflow tube is plugged. Still full.
Make sure yours isn't too full, especially since you drive it when the weather is rather warm.
I'm curious, as I'm no expert on these kinds of suspensions, or any suspension for that matter, but are your lift blocks just welded to the bottom of the frame?
If so, it would seem to lack the lateral stability that being bolted to the side of the frame would give. I can't really see from the...
The issue he is alluding to is that the orientation of the front axle is backwards compared to the rears, therefore, the rotation of the ring gear will be in reverse compared to the rears to make the front tires go forward. Ring gears are made to primarily turn one direction because of the cut...
It doesn't matter what company you talk to. YOU need to tell them it's a former military vehicle, 3 axles, with a 25K# GVWR.
On a side note, as mentioned, State Farm has no problems with it, most places, although it will be a commercial policy. Mine is a commercial with no restrictions for...
Horsepower really has not much to do with it. It's all torque through gear reduction. If you had enough time and gear reduction, you could move that with a briggs and stratton from your lawn mower.
Your supertankers run maybe 6500#/HP at a fairly good clip, which is about what that locomotive...
