No mount it under the bed near the air tanks like the a3. Also I found a 24v air dryer thats a hundred bucks cheaper than the pure air plus. Its the bendix ad-9 from anythingtruck.com.
Yes, we or rather Mark built a bracket over the chunk. The panhard bar is on the top. The shock mounts are o.e.m freightliner. As are the shocks. Tbe frieghtliner system needs even weight distribution for the chassis to sit level. Since the batteries and fuel tank are on the passenger side...
Thank you dip. The suspension is from a freightliner tandem and yes it is capable of 18,000 plus pounds. We used everything except the bags. We needed shorter ones. The panhard bar had to be shortened a bit also. The springs, mounts, shocks, etc. are right off the junker truck. Mark has...
These are the only pictures I have at the moment that show the suspension. Truely amazing how well this system rides. Even before we put the 105 bed on it rode pretty comfortably.
I advise against an oiler. The air pak requires minimal lubrication and nothing else does. Too much oil can cause dirt and other contaminants to accumulate inside air lines and other compents. Clean dry air is most desirable.
I'm thinking of installing an air dryer myself. Bewteen how expensive air paks are and the fact that I have an air o matic kit in the way I believe it will save me a lot of money in the future.
As gimp said, there are spring loaded drain valves with a pull cord that are very nice and also...
No I wish I did. Me and mark both broke our phones before I put a thread up about the truck. So alls I posted was a few completed photos. I think I have a few photos of the freightliner suspension we used.
Drain your tanks after every drive. At least when you know when your done for the day. Water will destroy an air pak. Thats why I had to replace mine. Dang thing was rusted solid.
Is it bubbling around a fitting? Cause that means its leaking. There shouldn't be liquid in any of those...
Any idea what liquid was bubbling? Water or brake fluid? And which tee specifically are you referring to? Sounds like you either have moisture in your vent lines or brake fluid is bypassing somewhere.
Have you drained your air tanks?
After studying the short airpak inside and out I don't believe it was intended to be lubed. The air cylinder doesn't have a felt wiper like the long one. Just a rubber cup seal. They also did not add any provision for lubing it.
If you are inclined to lube it then it would me much easier...
With a trailer and a load 5 ton springs might not be horrible. Once you go bobtail its gonna be a whole different animal. With no weight on the rear end it will ride like a brick and the rear axle will bounce badly when going over bumps.
I'll admit after building a bobber with full air ride...
Well if you want your kidneys beat to death then yes they would work. If you wanted to go with leaf springs then I would think the leaves off of a civy 2-3 ton truck with overload springs would be the way to go. The ride without a load will still be pretty rough with no weight on the back...
You are correct. Mine was leaking from the same place. Check your engine oil to make sure you aren't "making" oil. That double lip seal keeps fuel on one side and engine oil on the other. If your pump cover gasket is leaking I would suspect that seal is also.
Good to see theres another shop who has seen these pumps.
On a totally unrelated note, there seems to be a lot of deuce owners in the general New Orleans area.
The bearings run fine in oil bath. The problem is these seals won't keep oil from leaking out of the hub. Also both bearings can wash out. At least it did on 3 hubs on my truck.
Good to know there is another shop. It would be nice if as people find shops they could post them in this thread. I have no affilliation to the shop I used other than they are local to me. I merely posted to inform others.
As far as alternative fuels go, I'm not a fan. Too much trouble and...
