If you are getting air bubbles and it is not surging wouldnt the surging be caused by somthing else? Also check this out. Hard starting CUCV's

Hard starting CUCV's fat lady singsI finally found it.

There was a thread a while back I cant remember what the title was. But it spoke of an air leak from the back of the fuel filter houseing. If i find the thread do the link thing here.

Have you checked out the TMs yet? JATONKA's CUCV TM download page TM 9-2320-289-34 Paragraph 6-8 page number 6-41 Tells how to do it with housing spreader. Allot of the steps are unnecessary such as removing the axle and placing it on a stand etc Basically all I did was remove the 4 bolts...

Or you could do it like these young chuckle heads did:shock: but i wouldnt recomend it:razz:

No you do not have to do all that to get the front pumpkin out. 4 bolts and shes free.

Ive used sockets on the turbine deck that was driven by an air impact so big that it was moved into place with the ceiling crane and took 3 guys to run it. Now that is a purty big socket.:mrgreen:

I agree with ODdave on tossing the gasket. To get the pumpkin out i very carfully pryed it out with a small bar. It will act like it doesnt want to come out but as long as you removed the 4 pillow block bolts , and of course the axle shafts it will come.

To replace the ceals yes you have to remove the pumpkin. Remove the 4 bolts from the pillow blocks and she should pop out. As for cleaning i would use WD-40. I wouldnt take the gears apart unless there is evident damage.

Mesure the cap and place the correct size socket on the top and hammer away. Mine did the same thing

I cleaned mine out when i had the pumpkin removed. Just took a toilet brush and duck taped it to a broom stick.

How come you didnt close/delete this thread and keep the better titled thread?

I get that on my m1028. The clank i get is from the rotation slop in my drive shaft.
