I am not trying to hijack this thread, but to relate my personal experience. My 1009 did not come with a block heater. I obtained a heater from a GM dealer. Installation was fairly simple. Drain the radiator. Remove the right (passenger) front freeze plug. I ended up taking a glycol shower. Went...
Get an outdoor timer. I got mine at Lowe's. They stock a digital style and pin-type. I opted for the pin, was 5 bucks cheaper ($20). INTERMATIC model HB350. It has 2 outlets, I plugged in a drop light so I can be sure it is on. As for starting fluid, I personally will not risk it. For those who...
'84 M1009. 6 degrees this morning. Block heater set on a timer for 2 hours. Started right up. Supposed to be even colder the next couple of days (fingers crossed). For more heat inside, I put a thin mud flap trimmed down behind the grille guard to act as a winter front. The rear window was...
The state of Ohio does not recognize an SF97. What a crock. So GL gets a title issued from Florida and sends it to the Ohio resident. As for the tax, it should have already been collected and noted on the Florida title. You won't have to pay any more tax, just the license fees and out of state...
As for your 14 days question, you have 14 days AFTER the EUC clears. As long as you contact the site manager as soon as the EUC clears, they will usually work with you on the 14 day stipulation. But if you are like me (and the rest of us for that matter), you will be fetching it ASAP. My advice...
If my 6.2 ever gives up the ghost, I will replace it with my big block chevy, along with a dana 60 front and 14 bolt rear. But until then, the road-oiler is safe.
Judging from the pics, that M1009 is almost certainly a runner. The most it should need to get it going would be batteries. Nonetheless, you should take a trailer or medium duty military tow bar should you be fortunate enough to win the auction.
I will be there. It sure would be great for someone to come up with a t-shirt or two. Being a 10th anniversary, they would be highly desireable. [thumbzup]
I would like to find an antenna (doesn't need to be functional) for the M1009. The mounting bracket is already there, the antenna was just threaded off. If I cannot find an antenna, I will just remove the bracket.
I am STILL waiting on sf97's. I got on the live chat, and was told that Ohio doesn't recognize 'government" titles, so it has to go thru Florida and then to me. I am beginning to regret ever doing business with GL.
Randy- I very much appreciate your input. There is very little rust, if any. I got the POR as a more cost effective option than Herculiner type roll-on bedliner methods. And it won't be abrasive. I plan to paint the OD over the POR before it hardens. Then again, maybe I will just use OD paint...
Does anyone know if there are any issues with applying POR 15 paint over top of CARC paint? I intend on doing the inside of my M1009, then applying OD over the POR 15. I am not familiar with the carc and don't want any major surprises! I will clean and rough the surface, and know NOT to breathe...
