My anniversary is on the 18th. So the earliest I can head out would be on the 19th. If I bring
"Tag Along" I'm going to load up some Hardigg cases to try and sell off.
Hey Jim, What day do you and John head home?
I've never been to this event. I'm planning on going but I'm not sure if I'm going to camp out or hotel it. My hope is to be up there Friday and Saturday and head home on Sunday. Any veterans of this event have some suggestions on making the most of the trip? Where to park my MV for display etc.?
I had a body shop get the jumper wires crossed on my '03 Ram. Fried the ECM. They then had the marbles to deny any wrong doing! There was fresh damage on the battery cables with metal shavings still laying on top of the battery from the jumper wires clamps digging in. After a ton of heated phone...
I thought I would post some pictures of some military trailers that I found in a storage lot used by the LA County Fire Department. The lot is located on Soledad Rd. across the road from a fire camp. I counted 3 M-105's, 1 M-101's and 2 M-416 trailers. The lot also had an assortment of fire...
I hate doing anything with wiring. To many disasters created by my own inexperience. I did the DH conversion with no problems. Also did the glow plug control bypass, and soon I'll be doing the 12volt conversion for the GPs. "So easy a caveman can do it."
As I found out practicing with my Hi-lift jack you need to tie the axle up to the frame with a tie down strap or something similar before lifting. At least if you are lifting from the bumper. The rear bumper was almost four feet off the ground before the tire came off the ground. Just my 2cents.
His truck has the box on it. After he registered it, he put all the parts back on it. He figured the savings was worth his time in removing and reinstalling the stuff.
You could do what my buddy did. He stripped off the bed and anything else unneeded from his gov aquired 3500 pick up and had it weighed at a licensed scale. The truck weighed just under the breaking point for the higher fees. It worked here in CA, don't know about how your state works.
So if I understand correctly... Disconnect the wire at (1). Run a jumper from (5) to (1). Wrap 24v wire with tape to prevent disaster. Conversion complete?
Would someone please post the best link to rewiring the glowplugs from 24v to 12v? I've bypassed the control card as described in several posts but I can't find the "Wiring for Dummies" version of the voltage swap. Is there a post with instructions like the one for the DH relay change? Thanks.
I'm not sure it is the same, but I've heard on newer vehicles the plastic buttons melt and the mat becomes a kind of fire blanket for under hood fires.
Well now that you've posted this it will be difficult to sell it as a "Ridiculously Low Mile CUCV". I've got about 6k more miles before mine is "brand new".
Sorry for the late reply, I must not have subscribed to the thread. The photo was taken coming out of Nightmare Gulch. We went in through Last Chance Canyon.
