    Glow Plugs

I didn't yet, but their website indicates they are out of stock on the 070's until at least 1/13... I'm heading up north on the 16th, and I need to get this done before then. If it will hardly start at ~35 degrees, it will likely never start at ~10. I guess I'll go with the SSD.. Thanks!

    Glow Plugs

Yes, I searched... I found that everyone used to be recommending AC60G's, but now are saying Wellman 070's. Also, everyone was saying buy from ssdieselsupply.com, but now are saying indusadist.com. I need to order a set... Since indusadist.com seems to be out of stock, how are the ssdiesel...

    No lights on my M1008

Had this same issue with my m1009. Have you checked the fusible link that runs along the top of the firewall behind the air cleaner? Look for the ~6ga wire off the rear battery that heads towards a small distribution block near the glow plug relay. If there is no power to the distribution...

    Glow plugs / Relay

Thanks! That will save me some dough. If you look at page one of the CUCV faq, someone posted photos and said "if your relay looks like the one in last 2 pictures, its bad". Well, mine looks like the one in the last picture. Either way it seems to work fine, its just the glow plugs that...

    Glow plugs / Relay

M1009 been a little slow to start on the colder mornings here. And were only talking like ~35 degrees. Not really cold. So, I followed the wiki and first thing pulled a wire off a GP and read it with my multimeter when the key was turned on. When the relay initially clicked, I got ~23 volts...

    Glove box

Here's the pics. I used 3/16"s short rivets to hold the hinge to the plastic. You could use screws or small bolts/nuts, but rivets are neater and much harder to pull through.

    Glove box

Or, you can do what I did. Mine was broken at the hinge as well. I went to Lowe's and got a 30" piece of piano hinge (labeled "continuous hinge". I cut it down to size, then riveted one side to the plastic of the glove box, then used sheet metal screws to attach it to the dash. All told, I...

4 hours at the DMV and I have a plate!

So I finally got my SF-97 in from GL and decided to get my plates/title/registration taken care of. I left the house at 7:45am on Friday morning, thinking, hey its the day after Christmas, this should be easy! Boy, was I wrong. In Arizona, all vehicles have to take an emissions test. I...

    Gwinnett Sheriff's SWAT M114 video

I'm still not sure how I feel about Police Departments and the Militarization of same. But, cool vid. rr

Painting the M1009, with electrical Problem!

So, what you're saying is to bypass all of the horn wiring all together? I understand that that could work, but I'm kinda worried about that short. I know something is going on, but I can't imagine what, or how I caused it. rr

Painting the M1009, with electrical Problem!

Well... The horn doesn't sound anymore, unless I push the button. But I now have another issue! The fusible link blew that supplies 12v. I replaced it with a 30a inline fuse, cause I couldn't find any fusible links around here. Blew that too. Its odd. I put the new fuse in, everything was...

Painting the M1009, with electrical Problem!

Gonna try that right now. I'll let you know what happens... Is the diode important? If so, any idea where to get a replacement? In reading about that particular type of diode (Zener) it seems they are all specifically "tuned" to each application. Here goes nothing.. rr

Painting the M1009, with electrical Problem!

Thanks! Very detailed diagrams. I crawled under the dash and looked for any shorts. I couldn't see any visible ones, but I did find something interesting. On the orange wire from the fuse panel, some soldier stripped a little jacket off the wire and had twisted another wire (rigged splice)...

Painting the M1009, with electrical Problem!

First, the problem. Electrical gremlin. I pulled out the cluster since there were a bunch of dead bulbs, couldn't see crap at night. I cleaned all the dust out, polished the lense, new bulbs, etc. Now, here's the problem. I put the cluster back in to test everything. When I turn the...

Harquahala Peak, Arizona in an M1009

It ran fantastic. It has no rust, except for a tiny bit at the TOP of the door frame. Go figure. 4wd works great. Its a little creaky, because all the rubber in the window frames is bad. I need to order a kit from LMC or JC Whitney and re do it all. My dog just hardly ever stays still...

Harquahala Peak, Arizona in an M1009

Finally got my title from GL, so I decided to take the family for a trip. We drove up to the top of Harquahala Peak in Southwestern AZ. You can drive all the way to the top, which is about 6000'. Very steep, unmaintained roads. The road up is about 9 miles long in which you start essentially...
