    Remote Brake Reservoir...Done.

Your description sounds like the normal master cylinder cap and vent line. Can you post a picture?

Prelube on all deuces and what to look for?

The deuce does not have a prelube system (unless somebody added an aftermarket one). The oil pressure needle may move a bit when power is applied, but pressure won't come up until the engine is turning. From a cold start, it might take 10 seconds or more for the oil pressure to rise after the...

    Barstow, Ca.

Re: RE: Barstow, Ca. He didn't respond to a voice mail that I left, but he did call me back from his caller ID after I hung up when I got his voicemail.

    Barstow, Ca.

Re: RE: Barstow, Ca. Three M1009s and one M1008. I don't know whether they're runners yet... I gave them a pretty cursory inspection since I was just gonna low-ball them and didn't expect to win any! I posted some pictures over in the "Todays Wins and Losses" thread. I guess my plan will be...

    Barstow, Ca.

I previewed at Barstow on Wednesday. The two guys there (I don't know if either of them was Dave) seemed a bit put out that I wanted to screen all of the CUCVs and LVS trailers that were up for auction, but they went along with my plan. And I didn't even need to turn off the charm. ;-) I was...

    Won a M1009!

Congratulations! Out of boredom plus legendarily poor self-control, I threw down low-ball bids on six of them at Barstow. I think I won four of them. Aw, poo. ;) Well, I hope I can get them running, serviced and titled, and sell three of them for enough to help pay for the fourth. Naw, that...

International Title Service --- A+ SERVICE!

Re: RE: Re: Did you receive tags and reg./ title from ITS California also requires a VIN inspection for new or out-of-state titles. Here, VINs can be verified by the DMV, or a peace officer, or by a licensed and bonded VIN verifier. These VIN verifiers are kind of like notaries, in that...

    fuel filter bleeder valve

I did the same thing once (doh!), and got a replacement from Memphis Equipment. If I ever do it again, though, I'll probably use some other random petcock with a stronger stem.

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

$180 was just for the proper dies... that doesn't include the crimper itself!

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

I just did a bit of research to try to find "correct" crimping tools for the Packard connectors, as opposed to tools that are just close enough, like my circular-indent tool that can't fit over the tensioning springs on the female contacts. First of all, I dug up the military standard drawings...

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

I see lots of AF-8 crimpers on eBay, at widely varying prices. I was hoping that something like that one would be suitable. I gather that I would still need to select the right positioner turret for it, though. I have to remove the tensioner springs with my current crimper because the jaws...

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

Speaking of the right tools, I have a circular indent crimper which is "close enough", but not quite right. I need to pull off the ring around the female contacts in order to get them into the crimper, and then put the ring back on afterwards (which is a PITA). I'd like to get the right crimper...

    Packard connectors or shrink-tube splices?

I use the Packard connectors most of the time. Sometimes I'll make a repair with adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing. I use silicone-rubber motor wire that appears to be very similar to the non-cloth-reinforced rubber wire in newer MVs.

Finally got my own toy, now here comes the pain

RE: My new toy...pics finally(Thanks, Doghead) Very nice! It will take a lot of work, but the end result will be awesome! I think you'll end up spending just as much money as if you had bought a complete one, but this way you'll get to spread out the cost over a long time, and have something to...

    Drivetrain Swap vs. Truck Swap

Hoo boy! That's even more expensive than I thought it would be. I think you're right, though, that I'd be better off spending the bucks to do the swap than to try to get what I think my truck is worth. Particularly since I have it in such an uncommon configuration. My truck started out as one of...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

This restoration is absolutely beautiful! Wow! I now realize that a while back (last year?) I thoroughly flaked on selling you a crane remote control for your project. Are you still looking for one?

    Drivetrain Swap vs. Truck Swap

Hey, I was referring to the transmission hump that I had just pulled off of my M543A2. I was surprised by the reaction I got when I used the phrase "tranny hump"... the "other kind" hadn't occurred to me! Now, I'm not saying that I'm not a pervert, but in this one, specific, isolated...
