Cutting oil and the correct amount of pressure on the bit keeps them from dulling too fast and breaking. Its something that you kinda learn the "feel" for.
What the seller did would be the same as me selling my truck "fully restored" cause it was depot rebuilt in 91'. Of course I'm neglecting to mention the military continued to use the truck for almost 15 years before being sent to DRMO. Plus a private owner for a few years before I acquired it.
The LD and ldt are basically the same engine. The LDS is the 5 ton engine. It is very similar to the ldt but not exactly the same. I can't name all of the differences tho.
Ya I have seen his kit. I do like it and it looks to be very well made. I already have a hide-a-hitch off of......something.....laying in the yard that is the exact width of the frame. It also will tuck up closer to the pintle. I like keeping everything as high up as I can. I realize I will...
I'm going to install a civi 2" receiver hitch on the back of my deuce. Then I'm going to fab up a bed crane that slides into the 2" receiver. That way I can store my 395 in the bed and have a way to get it in and out. Also the crane can be used for other lifting needs.

I would just get a spare. They aren't usually rebuild able. Though, there is a thread where someone successfully repaired a sticking HH. Ambac also rebuilt them but they were also the manufacturer.
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to any of your questions except the last. I would guess the reason grease is blowing out of the passenger side boot is the inner axle seal is bad. My truck did the same thing. The grease mixes with gear oil and oozes out of the zipper. Pm me if your...
Like I said, it loves to collect water. Which causes rust. The driver side one on my truck is in decent shape. The passenger side is pretty rough. Nice repair chevracer. I'll be doing the same on my truck before too many more months pass by.
