Pulled the starter off this evening and did not see "No Shim" stamped on the starter and saw no shims under it either. Is it possible a starter could come without that stamped on it? Starter has never dragged or anything like it wasn't lined up correctly. Are there any pictures here on this site...
Interesting question Warthog. I'm not sure which type of starter is on the truck. I'm going to (weather permitting with this rainy spell we're having) pull it down after work tonight. Looked like some kind of arm bolted up on one end near starter and free on other. Is that supposed to be bolted...
Checked with local Chevy dealer on those part #'s and none of them came up. A couple of other places can get one but they are a bit pricey ($200). A local starter/alternator shop said he can get one for less than $100. When I find out that brand & part # I'll post to help others who may have a...
Did some more tests when I got home from work. I have reason to believe it's my starter solenoid. Have full 25v on one side of solenoid but not on starter motor side when ignition turned on. Got power to solenoid and I can feel it & hear it clicking in and out. Next issue: Autozone or other car...
Which fuse in the block carries the 24v? I jumped the under dash starter relay red & purple wire with same results as if I tried the key. The one under dash also has 12v when I turn the ignition to start. I thought I'd seen on this site that the cucv's have 2 starter relays (one under dash that...
I'll check it out. Batteries have good charge ( tested while sitting @ Autozone with the no start) and all connections seem tight. Do I remember correctly or not that the CUCV's have 2 starter relays. one with a 12v coil and the other with 24v coil. Not sure of that. Thanks Warthog and all...
It happened to me today. Turned the key but no start. Jumped wires to relay (purple & red ) under the dash but still no start. Next culprit to look at would be what?
The noise suppressors for wiper motor mounted on firewall right below wiper motor? On a bracket holding three of those capacitor type devices? Correct? I too have a random wiper issue but was thinking motor may have been getting ready to go out.
I noticed yesterday evening while checking out some things the Gen 1 sheave is out of alignment with the drive sheave off front of water pump. Not sure if It will go back in line. Thats a day off project. It don't look like its that much adjustment on it. Thanks to all for the help/advice. I'm...
Those TM's here on SS that you listed are the complete manuals (like dealer service manuals or owners manuals) that can be downloaded to my pc? While I'm at it I'm going to ask one more question. I was told by person I got truck from and an ex-soldier that alternator belt squeal is normal from...
I'll check them out 1st on my next day off before I start other adjustments or parts replacements. How much vacumn does a diesel run compared to a gasoline engine? I was told it was a lower amount. Being a newbie to these MV's with the diesels I'm going to have to crawl before I walk.
Is the modulator valve on the tranny adjustable and how is it done? I don't have any way right now to pull a vacumn on system to make sure it's ok or for adjustments like I saw on your post link with the mity vac tool.
How do you fine tune the TH400 shifts? The one in my 1008 shifts at right point I believe(1-2@ +/- 20mph then from 2-3@ +/-30mph) but it shifts like it has a super shift kit in it. If it had the power it would be barking the tires. It does it most all the time whether its warmed up or cold.
I have a M1008 I've looking to sell so I can buy a M1009. I'm in northeastern N.C. though. Truck is in good codition and could be worth trip. That is if you haven't found one already.
