    Bad luck- govplanet 802a

Had to laugh a little when I saw the riding mower parked on the "grass" but looking closer at the tires I guess it's probably a garden tractor, not a riding mower... ;)

Do i really need an anti siphon valve?

The need for an anti-siphon valve probably depends on the vertical height difference between the generator and aux. tank. I would think that if the height of the fuel in the tank is substantially lower than the generator, you may want a check valve to prevent the line from draining back into the...

Hello - new MEP-803a owner here

For an 803 a group 34 battery will fit the tray and hold-downs correctly. Group 51R will also work, but their size is better suited to the 802 battery trays. I recently started using NAPA brand batteries because I noticed they were lasting longer than some of the other Auto parts store...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

I suggest we just start over with a clean thread, discussing only issues we know of as incorrect TM "stuff"

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

Yup, no worries. Always remember, the TM's are only 99.5% accurate. We've discovered a handful of incorrect numbers, measurements and descriptions in the TM's over the years. Humm... sounds like a new sticky! "Generator TM errors"

    MEP803a Rough Idle

I assume you mean you replaced K5, the fuel shut off solenoid? If so, take that completely out of the equation, its only function is to press down on the throttle linkage when not energized to shut the engine off. You only adjust it to make it press the IP linkage all the way down when off. When...

    Just beginning my mep-003a journey

maybe a compression check while its hot, as soon as it dies might tell you something. Scoobyshep might be on to something if your valves are too tight. I'm also wondering about the possibility of a head gasket leak between cyls. 3&4 when it heats up?

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

Nope, not correct. Essentially #6 and #11 are both referencing the same single check valve mounted under the clamp, right next to your oil pressure gage, just the first image isn't really accurate in it's orientation. Item #45 is just a 90* brass NPT to Flare adapter, no check valve that I have...

Hello - new MEP-803a owner here

Originals are typically green or tri color camo, and engine gages are pretty bland / plain looking with blue rear housings on the gage body with red caps in the bulb socket holes, sometimes don't have the Quad Fuse mod. ( 3A fuse mounted to the left of the voltage regulator ) Tier2 reset are...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

I agree that pump timing is not the issue. It worked before, so the timing button is correct and the plunger hasn't skipped in the plunger guide because it starts up and runs fine for a while. Skipped plunger guides are difficult starting and the heads get hot quick. I use both Acetone in the...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

There was a time, back when I first started playing with the 002/003's that I had the "bright idea" to unplug one of the main pumps to "save" it for when needed, thinking that by leaving 1 running and 1 turned off I would extend the life of the "off" pump..... let's just say that mindset was...

MEP-802A Coolant Bottle and Intermittent Surging Issues

Ah, it won't be that bad... ( hopefully ) just need to exorcize the demons that moved in over time. Fuel gage issue is 99% likely to be a bad sending unit. Search this site for info on replacing it with a 5.5" WEMA marine sender. It's very easy, about $55 ( cheaper if you go with a no name China...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

+ on the air leak ( in suction side upstream of pumps ) check lines, fittings and the dip tube inside the tank. You won't see any fuel leaks because it's on the suction side. On the 002 / 003 you have an external fuel lever assembly, not an internal rack, therefore when the machine begins to...

MEP-002A, will Start, Run then dies....any suggestions?

Definitely sounds like fuel starvation to me too, but the smoke has me puzzled. Typically they don't smoke like that when starved for fuel. I'm thinking 2 things, fuel starvation or possibly insufficient air flow. I wonder if you could be getting CO building up in the shed if the air outside is...
