Ypsilanti, Michigan Car/Truck Show - Salute to Vets
This one is coming up pretty fast - May 6, 2012. This is an annual Car and Truck show at a nice park setting. I have had conversations with the event organizers with regards to bringing military vehicles (due to their size and weight, I...
Hey Phil -
Thanks for sharing such a great collection (and being single deffinitely did help!).
By the way - in the parade picture of the 1 ton Humber - that is a very cool application of a ladder/staircase on the rear tailgate. Very handy and safety conscious when carrying the Vets and...
That is one type of truck that I have never ended up with - a road tractor. Bruce had his M983 HEMTT Tractor for sale for a while. It was really tempting with the brand spanking new Detroit in it! But as the cards fell, it was not to be. Looks like a nice trailer. I might be wrong, but did...
Looking for someone in the area of Colorado Springs, Colorado, (specifically, Fort Carson, Colorado) who might be interested in helping with a small, single pallet shipment that needs to be prepped and sent on its way to Michigan. Unfortunately, the pieces that I needed for a truck restoration...
I understand what you are getting at there, Mark. Typical "Emergency" stopping procedures probably only apply when the "backup" or "safety" system(s) is(are) functional. When there is a catastrophic system failure such as you described, one must rely on the "hand brake" and experience...
Hey Sparky ---
From one fuse puller to the next - YOU ARE DEFINITELY OUT OF CONTROL!
I had to show this post to my wife - I was laughing so hard until she said that it was like something that I would do - and she is probably right!
I thought the comment about needing the generator for...
Thank God nobody did get hurt, but I hope these two guys realize how lucky they are that nobody was hurt! I'm sorry, but a lot of men and women put themselves in harm's way when they join up - and I'll bet very very few of them would ever expect to have to sacrifice due to this kind of stunt...
Thanks Stuart -
Sure looks like they did an awesome job. If they wouldn't mind making a set of the drawings available for me to use, that would sure be great. Good idea working in the "cross bar" across the middle dropside to handle the center bed cover bow. Excellent looking truck!
Dave.
General Update -
Well, the shop said that the hydraulic lines on the Material Handling Crane look in a lot better shape than the last ones - only had to replace the ones on one of the outrigger legs (the other side had already been replaced).
Already gave it a full lube/grease job.
Waiting...
Hey Stuart -
Pretty cool when they are in that good of shape (mine must be pretty close to yours - manual was still in the stowage box/bin still in plastic wrapper). The Army must be getting ready to seriously update or something if they are letting so many of these in this condition go. I...
Hey Stuart -
I agree, the M989A1 is a very cool, unique bird. The one that I have for the 985 is ready to go! I was only thinking that IF I got one for the wrecker, that it might as well be a little different. And it might be interesting to have the "original" and the "A1" from a historical...
