Next question:
I've got the roof hatch off. Most of the bolts were halfway in . . .
There's a rubber gasket with washers.
My intention is to glue it down with Sikaflex 252. Should I use the rubber gasket and glue both sides of the gasket? Or abandon the gasket and just use a lot of glue...
I found an air leak. One of the hoses on a rear brake wasn't tight. It apparently wasn't tight after my brake service, but got progressively looser during my test outings. After tightening that, the air pressure is much more stable.
One more of a long series of mistakes I've made . . . by...
Thanks Chris. I'm slowly making progress. I got the roof hatch bolts off this morning. I'm going to glue it down today. I received the eco hubs recently, which is another big project. This truck just soaks up time.
I've made some progress and I've got some issues.
The brakes are serviced, the new tires are on (2022 date codes), the CTIS hoses are on, Christian Platzer's CTIS controller is hooked up and working. The tires air down and air up, taking a bit longer than I thought they would, but it works.
I...
I have two wheels that each have one wheel stud that won't torque, because it rotates freely. I've ordered new wheel studs from Midwest Military Equipment, which should arrive in a few days.
While I imagine that to change one I hammer it out, put the new one in place and pull it up with an...
I'm working on the passenger side front brake today. Almost done, then I'll get the tire back on.
While I'm in there, I'm seeing what I think is a wire and connector for the ABS. I've got an ABS light on the dash and this truck has obviously been in mud up over the axles. So I'm thinking...
Yes, got that. Someone else informed a few weeks ago. As a noob I was confused by the stenciled labels. The AOH pump is now off, the ABS Box is still there, but there's an ABS dash trouble light, so that's one more thing to chase when I get the truck ready to drive
I'll eventually move the...
If you affix the new air filter to the habitat, what happens when the habitat and chassis go in different directions, because of chassis flex? Flex tube somewhere in air inlet tube length?
I haven't got down to the air lift arch yet and haven't decided on the position of the filter. If the...
So that's a scavenge hose.
I did a quick google:
https://redekopmfg.com/what-is-an-exhaust-scavenger-port/
Looking at the Donaldson Powercore PSD specs here...
On my 1088 there's a tube, maybe 1.75 or 2 inches in diameter that runs from the air filter to the exhaust pipe.
In the Donaldson literature, there are notes about "scavenge", which apparently improves performance.
Is that flexible tube that goes to the exhaust pipe "scavenge"?
Small progress today. One of the air fittings hasn't arrived, so I worked on removing the AOH pump and the spare tire lift. One bolt removed from the spare tire lift, 4 bolts removed holding the AOH pump. All 5 bolts very annoying to remove, difficult to get the wrench on the nuts. But a...
I think the missing 4th air hose from the manifold is the hose that went to the AOH Pump, which is now completely naked without hydraulic or air hose attached. I disconnected that several weeks ago, so memory faded, but that must be the one that's gone.
So I'm thinking that the 1/4 inch tube...
