Alright thanks a lot. I knew it had something to do with the jumping of it, but I'll just tape up the wire in case I need it. I dont know how frequently I'll be needing a NATO jump lol, but either way I'd like to retain the capability.
One thing, does it matter which post to use on the two...
Hello.
My M1028 is perfectly stock and was well maintained by the military and a fire department as a brush truck. It has new glowplugs (installed by PO), and I'm replacing the starter relay, the glowplug relay and I'm rebuilding the alternators (the stuff is on order from CUCVelectric)...
The batteries when running or not running pretty much had the same voltage, maybe a little more when running. The guage also was reading under the middle hash mark, more toward or on the yellow line. I think the gen 2 is not working at all, while the gen 1 is working somewhat lol. Either way...
OK So I made some progress. I got both lights to work in the dash, the connector was just corroded. Heres how it is now- Key to on, both lights on. Start truck, both lights still on, but once I rev it the Gen1 goes out. Gen 2 is still lit but slightly dim (that could be because of increased...
I took the batteries out and one was pretty well charged (Front battery- took like 3 hours to fully charge on my charger), while the rear battery took almost a full 24 hours to charge and drew more amps charging than the other. The batteries are all new and the exact same model. 810 CCA rating...
Hello.
I just got my M1028, and yesterday when I picked it up it was fine. Started right up, multiple times, and was also driven a lot. Today, when I went to start it, I cycled the plugs, and tried to crank, but it cranked really slowly and didnt start. A few things- The voltmeter yesterday...
I'll drive to NAPA tomorrow and see. I couldnt find it on their website, but maybe if I can explain it. Dealer is an option.
These are the ones for my Corvette - They look like they would work....

Hello.
For the front license plate mounts on an M1028, does anyone know the part number or where to get the plastic inserts and screws that hold the plate on?
Let me know.
Thanks,
Will
I understand this, but there are millions of other diesels and other kinds of engines that go pretty much forever without any rod bearing problems. And it's not like they are running any real extreme RPM's.
Will
This is random on my part (I dont own a deuce, but I want one!), but why does it seem that LDT-465s seem to eat rod bearings on a regular occurance? There are various threads on bearing issues on these engines. What's the deal?
Will
So what I gather is the stuff which I would have thought to look out for is what I should look out for. I refuse to buy a vehicle with butchered electrics, as they can be **** to deal with. Rust and leaks are something I already look for, so that shouldnt be a problem. I'm still looking for...
I am currently going through the birdcage process on my '74 and somehow my car has escaped the dreaded birdcage rust, even though my car has led a abused and not well taken care of life before I owned it. There is no rust in the corners and only some in the body mount area. I even removed the...
Hello,
I am looking around for CUCV's and have done much research into them. I have pretty much lived here on the forum reading about them and the problems with them, but since I may be buying one sometime, I have one question.
What are the things I should look for / ask when looking...
Wow thanks for all the great responses!
I am not a business, just buying it for me...so I wont do those tax forms.
I will need a title, so once I receive the truck (if I were to get one), I would then contact GL for the SF-97, correct?
And I'm looking at CUCV's (you guys probably know...
