I believe that the positive end on my battery cable was about 6 ft long...and even with that there was hardly any wiggle room!
The Neg should just go right through the floor and ground out on the frame
Hey thank you, Im going to have to look into that after I get the truck running!
SasquatchSanta: Thank you very much for the pictures...I assume you added a millitary belt pully onto the alternator?
Does anybody know the NAPA part number for the correct belt? The store in my town is...
The first one is from a WWII CCKW Ive been told, I infact have the EXACT same top/set up on mine. Very interesting to see that both of ours have the same mounting brakets to attach the top to the cab...I wonder if this was a kit/set of plans
The belt pully's on the fan/motor are still millitary; it looks like you hit the nail right on the head...I checked out the alternator, and it does in fact have a narrow civilian pully.
Thank you very much for your thoughts on this, I appreciate it!
Hopefully this weekend I can get around...
My M37 had been converted to 12volt long before I got it. It functions ok, BUT...
The alternator dosent appear to be in exactly the right spot...resulting in MUCH squeeling from the belt whenever I step on the gas pedal. The fan belt is tightened all the way, and I can still move it by hand...
So my question now (after having atempted it) is
Do I need a puller to get the PTO off? All the bolts came out no problem, and it is loose. But I cannot seem to get the thing off the truck. Is there some linkage Im missing?:?:
At work we have 3 5-tons for fire-road construction. I believe them to all be M817s, but one of them looks different....anyhow
Here they are per request, hard at work re-building a washed out mountain road! Also Note that the dresser front-end loader is an EX-Air Force machine!
very cool! We have 2 M817's and one M818 at work for road construction
They are a blast to use on those nasty firetower roads! Hell, backing them a mile up a twisty washed out road UP a mountain ain't so bad either!
Found this little trailer for sale on the side of Rt. 63 in Levrett, Massachusetts.
My first thought was that it is a millitary model...but now I am not so sure. What do you guys think?
Regaurdless, it IS a nice little trailer.
He wants $350 for it.
NDT: Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!
I assume removing the said PTO would be quite the job...do you guys think it would be do-able without moving the vehicle into a shop?
Got a couple more pictures for you guys now that its home! Been working on it quite a bit, flushing the fuel tank, etc.
Going to try and get some pedal on the brakes tomorrow, wish me luck!
On a sidenote- I didnt think that the truck would have much fuel in the tank (its been off the road...
I picked this one up for $1800
I am not really sure yet if the cap is included....if it is, hopefully it'll get me a little extra!
My question is....does this look like a factory hardtop like the guy says? I realize they arent the best pictures for this type of question, but could...
