Well I got the extra cab out of the 101 trailer and mounted the 395's on the Hemmt wheels. Here are a few things I learned today.
1. If it looks heavy it heavier.
2. Soapy water is your friend.
3. A little bend in the hemmt valve stem makes easy to fill with air.
4. After fighting to get the...
The track bar on the top of the axle will have to be changed. The Peter-built doesn't use a top loading axle so you would have to fab something up. It would be cool though.
Yep the rear of the cabs are wider than the fronts so you have to cut the floors from front to back then add a pie shaped filler piece in the floor. That way the front of the second cab will match the rear of the first cab.
After I cut the floor to widen the front I'm just going to weld in patches. A friend of mine has a sheet metal fab shop so I can bend up the trans tunnel and roll the pieces for the top. I think I will do the floor with Hurculiner when it's done.
Is there any different numbers on axles that have a locking diff stock? On my M35A2c on loose gravel it will spin all eight rear tires if you hold the brake and let off the clutch.
After a few small problem the Deuce made the 240 mile trip home in one piece! Thanks to Kevin (ranchhopper) and Brandon (swampzr2) for helping get it together.
Well it looks like we are going to get the Deuce tommorrow. Going to change the oil and all the fuel filters put in some diesel and hope to make the 240 mile drive back. :?
Thanks clinto I have read that one and all the posts I could find and still can't find what holds the lock in. I see how it all works but the lock just slids out. It will kind of stay in if its locked but as soon as I unlock it it fall right out.
I ordered parts 1 through 7 off this page? LMC Truck Parts - Page 32 and I don't see what holds the lock cylinder in. Am I missing something? My tailgate didn't have anything in it when I got it so I'm not sure if this was everything that I needed.
The sun had cooked the paint off on a few spots on the top down to the fiberglass. Ijust lightly sanded the top and shot the paint. It took a few coats but came out nice. Just got the new rear window regulator from rockauto. I was suprised it was a G.M. part and the right one.
