Sand the bad spots to feather the surface, Prime then paint.

Mine were junk so I stripped everything off. If you want hand brakes keep the drums and wheel hardware.

Cool build! Add some 2" hitch receivers under the box to slide a cook stove or grill into. Will you be adding a pull out awning?

Simple tongue coupler fix. Unbolt the surge system and wels on an adjustible channel. Bolt it onto the tongue rails and you are back in business. You can use a lunette or ball mount.
