    Deuce Dump Truck Conversion

The farther toward the back of the bed you mount the hoist, the more unstable the raised bed will be. Closer to the back also limits the hoist lift capacity but it allows for more dump angle. When you mount the hoist it's all a tradeoff between lift capacity, dump angle, and stability. A...

    Deuce Dump Truck Conversion

My hoist wouldn't fit between the frame crossmembers either. I opted to add about 1 1/2" to the bed height and notch the bed crossmembers. I also had to add the extra height for gringeltaube's hinge design that I used ( it allows me to keep the stock hitch and bumperetts). I'm also using a...

    Deuce Dump Truck Conversion

I raised my bed 2" (added 2" tubing) but I still had to cut out and box some cross members for hoist clearance. You may be fine with your sub frame but it still looks like it will be close. The link to my dump project-...

    Deuce Dump Truck Conversion

Electric pumps will dump fine but they're slow. I ran a pump off a t-case PTO for mine.

    Wreckerman pulls two trailers

It's as safe as any other load if chained properly. Personally I'd have probably backed off the caging bolts but as long as it's chained good it should be fine. Really no reason to as long as you're under 13' 6". Most of the time when you see the gear lowered is when they haul 3 trailers to...

    Steel Soldiers, users age

I voted in this poll when it was new. Before long I'm going to be in another group and have to change my vote.

    Current issue olive drab paint

You could go with any of the semi-gloss paints Rapco offers if you like the colors. Personally, I like the 383 green Rapco has. It's a "flat" paint but does has a little more gloss than real CARC. It will fade out flatter over time though. I buy all my spray cans from Rapco but I get my gallons...

Hey guys, Im new here so bare with me. I need help, my deuce wont start!

The hose is after the pump (it's a pressure hose, not suction).

Hey guys, Im new here so bare with me. I need help, my deuce wont start!

Like everyone has alluded to, you ran it out of fuel. The in-tank pump won't pump right off the bottom so you can still have a couple of inches in the tank and run out. First thing to do is open the bleeder on the filters, turn the power switch on, and get a good stream of fuel coming out of...

    Wrecker rear drag winch

Ron, I may be wrong but I thought they were 45K also.

Do you need a CDL for a 5 ton

I think we need a thread that list every state's CDL requirements and post it as a sticky. Every state is different and what works in one state may not work in another. For example, in TN, if you have a 5-ton with farm tags you DO NOT have to have a CDL and can haul basically anything you want...

No manufacturer or year? What to do.

If it's a m923 then it's probably a AM General. You should be able to title the truck once you win it and get it home.

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

Just keep in mind that a A3 winch setup won't work with the stock A2 radiator, with the stock mounts (not enough room for the motor underneath the radiator). I guess it would be possible to modify the winch mounts so the winch sits lower to allow for radiator clearance. Another option would be...

    Hydraulic Conversion of PTO Winch

A pump pumps fluid. A motor takes the pressurized fluid from the pump and drives the winch. You could setup toggle switches front and rear but you have to use electric solenoid valves (make sure you get 24v ones).

    safety reminder

You're right about those wire wheels. I've pulled many out of my arm, even wearing long sleeves.

    67 Kaiser-Jeep M35 repowered

That thing is pretty rough. It's got gasser fenders but it looks like it's got a multifuel dash (Memphis may have changed that out).

    Winch oil/fluid specs

Pretty much any gear oil will work as it's a slow speed gearbox. I run corn head grease in mine to cut down on leaks. It's thicker than oil but not as thick as standard tube grease. The call it "flowable" grease.

    67 Kaiser-Jeep M35 repowered

I'd stay away from it if it has a 4-53. I think they are less than 100hp max. That makes a multifuel look like a powerhouse. I honestly can't believe Memphis would put such a small engine in a deuce. Are you sure it's a 4-53?

Converting an M931 to a Dump truck

If you can find a winch PTO, valve, controls, and pump, that would be the thing to use for hydraulics because it would bolt right up. You may want to look for a bed off a M817 as they seem to be much more plentiful that a M929 bed. You could always go with a 12' commercial bed also. A compete...

    5Ton level winder operation

You pretty much have to have the tensioner for it to work properly. Keeping tension on the cable is what makes the winder travel back and forth. It also holds the cable where stays it the center coming in which also makes the winder work.
