Welcome to the site and congrats on the truck.I fully understand about vehicles being "too far gone to restore ," heck, some can't even be recucitated(sp?) let alone be restored. At least you are offering parts for sale, rather than just taking them to the dump.
As far as...
Oh---and by the way--the truck in my avatar pic IS a '57 Utica-Bend with the Cont. 331 Gasser. Plenty dependable, plenty easy to maintain.I haven't any personal experience with the FMTV to be able to compare, but my gut is, the old iron is much simpler and hence easier to keep running than the...
My former father-in-law was an employee of Morrison-Knutson just before the war,and along with a LARGE number of other local(McCall ID) young men, was on Wake Island Dec.8.1941.Yep ,one of those!
Don passed away a couple of years ago but there are still some of those fellas around here,if...
I am 95 miles north of Boise on HWY55.If you are headed to East WA, then perhaps your route would bring you right past here!If so ,we'll help any way we can even if just coffee refill! Also,Alex at Idaho Motor Pool is at the I84 and HWY95 junction for parts if needed.

I think I remember a few other apps for that powerplant---seems like a fella here local had a large (old) Bucyrus-Erie Excavator that originally had the 903 but got repowered after she puked.
Oh, so close yet so far away--------------
Just a thought here---has anyone used their MIG welder to spot weld something onto that screw head( plus the heat may help break things loose). Better cover up any thing you don't want pitted from the "fire" though:-D.

HHHMMM,since we are talking trannies on chevy p/u's here, anyone mind if I ask if the 400 is the same box that is in the kids 84 GMC Diesel 1/2 ton 4x4 (civie)? Now they tell us that reverse is getting weak or non-existant:evil: Rats! Something else to have to deal with! These two are like...
Incredible--just too cool!:-D.Reminds me of John and Sue at the Warhawkairmuseum in Nampa, Idaho. They chased down a lead years ago about a P-40 buried in a farmers field in Canada. Found out it was true, made the deal, dug it up,brought it home, restored and is flying today.
