The boots are honestly a bigger pita then the o-rings were. No, when you line up the red tooth or scribed tooth, depending on what you have, that is the only way the HH head will come out or go back in. The HH will either slip right out or it won't. Same thing for putting it back in. Just...
If you have the o-rings and the fender off I would suggest replacing them. Its really not as bad or as scary as it might seem. Don't be like me and check your oil to discover your 5 quarts high. If you do change them don't forget to change the fuel control rod o-ring.
As far as the little...
I just replaced the o-rings on my HH. I used a mirror to see the pointer and red tooth through the fuel shut off cover. It wasn't too bad of a job. Let me know if you need the o-rings.
I was going to coat my truck in od green durabak....then after a little research I discovered durabak is the same thing as herculiner. Herculiner is absolute garbage in my opinion. It has zero UV tolerance and is super thin. The texture is that of gravel. It holds on to dirt really bad. I...
I would jump in the a3 stuff for that price. Your old MC can be rebuilt so don't trash it. Though they aren't worth a ton of money. Keep your airpak. It can be used with the a3 stuff if one air pack goes bad. Also, if you buy the a3 stuff don't forget to get the remote reservoir that mounts...
That truck just keeps getting nicer dip. If you can find a set that doesn't cost your first born, the a3 electric wipers are a vastly superior upgrade to the air wipers.
This is exactly why his post was confusing me. I concur that his method is probably not the best one to use. Besides, pulling the hub forces you to inspect bearings and seals.
The 365's are the metric equivalent of the 14.5x20's found on the a3's. If you are using 2 piece bolt together wheels I don't believe there is really any difference in mounting other than maybe weight. Me and a friend mounted some 14.00x20's on a3 wheels and it was no big deal. So the 395's...
A3 wheels are expensive in comparison to other wheels. But, by the time you buy or make adapter plates and hardware to mount them it equals out to be about the same money. I lucked out and got a smoking deal on my wheels and tires. The powder coating was a chunk of money that was totally...
I would blame miss-shifting or abuse rather than the design of the tranny. I guess in a way you can blame the shift pattern for this. Since most would assume where 4th is to be 5th they shift into 5th not realizing it is the highest gear. Then while at close to max speed trying to shift into...
The size eludes me at the moment but the lug nuts are a standard 6pt. socket. I think the socket you have in mind is the one you use for the spindle nut. You don't need to remove this to change a tire. This is to service the bearings and such. That socket is a 3" 8 sided socket.
By the time I bought 7 a3 wheels, had them powder coated, and bought 395's and o-rings I have about $3,300 in it. That's where I'm at now and they aren't even mounted to the truck yet. Tom's kit suddenly seems a lot more affordable by comparison.
Got the o rings replaced in the HH. Everything seems to be holding and no leaks. I'm glad that job is over. I still have a few sets of the o rings if anyone needs them.
Well I have the injector lines on top of the HH soaking in pb blaster. 2 of them are being stubborn. So, hopefully this afternoon I get the HH o-rings replaced and the oil changed. I'm praying that's all of my engine problems at least for now.
I have a3 wheels and just picked up a set of 395...
You having those parts painted or?
Hopefully by next week I'll have my truck running again and get my new tires at least mounted on my wheels. I emphasize hopefully.
