Ya its looking more and more like I'm going to get a long sawzall blade and try my luck cutting these things out. I about needed my trackhoe to unload these things from the trailer. I'm thinking more and more about getting some pallet forks for my mini-skid. Anyways, with the width of my...
I should also add that I didn't pay extra for the run flats. So if I don't use them, I don't really care if I destroy them to remove them. Though, I guess it would be a bonus if I can remove them intact.
Using a chainsaw is exactly what the guy who sold me the tires said to use. I'm not super comfortable with that idea but I guess you use what you must. Honestly I would like to run them. But, I just don't know if they will work with my wheels.
The 8" guess still concerns me even with adding...
I am also inclined to agree with Clinto. If you sand blast, the media gets into EVERYTHING. I don't care how good you think you taped and sealed everything. So you would need to pull everything apart after blasting anyways. Why do it twice?
OK so I am finally getting everything together and getting ready to convert my truck from the duals to 395's. So today I picked up 7 michelin xzl's from the nearest surplus tire dealer I could find. The tires all appear to be good. Inside every tire is a run flat. I have 2 questions here...
My buddies a3 also had no cork in the slot. Just rtv. My a2 had cork and rtv. So we added cork to his truck and I left my cork. As you said I'm sure both work just fine. I just like the redundancy.
I see why you decided to replace it. The turbo shop I use would have pointed to the trash can if took that to them. Glad to hear your getting everything back together.
The axles are for the most part the same. The spindles, wheel bearings, and hub seals are different. For the key slots I get a big chunk of cork and cut my own pieces to fit in the slot. Then you can smear rtv over it. I guess strait rtv would work but having that cork under the bearing race...
It just so happens that a buddy of mine has a complete 105 frame left over from the bobber we have been building. We have been trying to figure out what to do with it. We hate the idea of scrapping it since its complete minus the bed. Your idea is a perfect use for it.
I don't know if that sheet metal can be pulled back into shape. Its so stretched that it will be warped. Probly would look better bowed out like it is. Now the top rail could be straitened pretty easy. Weld a chunk of chain to it in the approximate center of the dent. Then maybe a couple of...
I can't even begin to imagine the nightmare of trying to cut through a hardened bearing race with a dremel tool. Your either gonna have to yank it off with a puller or cut the bearing with a plasma cutter or torch.
