    warm starting issues, still

not sure, i don't own one. in the Army we would just swap out the IP in the customer's truck (since we had them on-hand) to get them up and running. then if the IP seemed good, my F&E guys would swap out the solenoid. do more searching on hot start and fuel solenoid issues/relationships...

    Selectro Hubs

fyi - you can get Ouverson hubs for less from a member here. much better quality and upgradeable. on edit: i was wrong, i didn't get OEM hubs for less than the price listed above, but the difference is not that much, includes shipping, and i would gladly pay more for the hubs i have.

    warm starting issues, still

likely a sticking fuel cut-off solenoid; they stick when hot/warm and won't let fuel return to IP until cooled or unstuck. 2cents

    M35a2 question

i'm not sure if anyone has confirmed, but if it's an A3 truck, then i'll bet you can completely disregard the posted schematic. don't know...

    Towbar Incident Report

actually, when towing a tractor/trailer they can and do run air lines to the trailer to use the trailer brakes. i believe some (many or few?) tractors have inter-vehicular connections to utilize the truck brakes during towing.... or did i make that up? :cookoo:

    Towbar Incident Report

what manual is this? and is this for tow-bar or lift-towing with wrecker? the reason i ask is because in the MRAP towing TTP states "If vehicle has no air pressure, request dedicated wrecker support " as a note under the 'like-vehicle towing' section for every MRAP series. exactly: flat...

    Towbar Incident Report

do the wrecker operator manuals give any direction on towing? i would not be surprised if they didn't... anything i learned about vehicle specific operation was from the training and training materials on operation of that specific vehicle. i don't remember if any of that stuff was field...

    Towbar Incident Report

i completely understand this viewpoint. my view point is that if i can't afford to purchase a vehicle from GL (that probably doesn't run and is in essentially unknown condition) and the costs to have it transported to me, then i probably can't truly afford to buy the vehicle. in my opinion...

    Towbar Incident Report

my personal [paraphrased] summary. we didn't have patrols go out in OIF3, but we did provide continuous convoy support. we always had two recovery teams on stand-by, in total: 4 gun trucks, 2 HMMWVs, 2 HEMTT wreckers, 2 contact trucks, 2 M1088 tractors, 1 PLS, 1 HET. my point is that even...

    Towbar Incident Report

thank you, Chuck - i couldn't agree with you more. yes, everything i have been taught about vehicle recoveries (H8 school) is that tow-bars are not your primary recovery plan [for wheeled vehicles]. self-recovery is always option #1 (but is rarely possible); contact maintenance is used to...

    Overkill Customs M920 Build

yep, photo-chop really does wonders for helping spatial thinkers like me. i agree, the dump bed looks much better than the deuce bed. i wonder about the length, though. i'd be tempted to chop the frame and bring the bed up to the crane. but this is from the arm chair - being there in...

    Buying a M35A2 or M35A3?

i think you made the right call - looks great!!!

    Overkill Customs M920 Build

personally, i think the deuce bed would look more like an OE design than the dumper. i just envision the dumper in my head and i think it starts to look like a franken-job. that said, its still hard to envision. can you do a photo-chop for visual comparo? i couldn't offer an opinion...

towing info for the bigger trucks

i've never done it as i don't have a tractor, let alone a second vehicle the size of said tractor to tow-bar it with. however, that said, i've done too many accident investigations for me to say that tow-baring an equally-sized truck with a tractor is a good idea. there just isn't enough...
