woops! adjusting belt, alt 2 connected with fuel line

At a minimum, the fusible links did their job and burned up. Do a search in the CUCV forum, there is a good thread describing these links. It is possible there could be damage to one or both alts, but you'll need to fix the links and then test them.

    Epic 27MT Rebuild quest.

I'm sorry I don't have anything to add, but I am looking forward to your progress, as I'll be doing this one of these days... I wish you good luck!

    Axle Gear Oil

Per the lube order, the M1009 does NOT require the additive. The lube order specifies the additive for the front diff of the 1028 and 1031 only.

What is this and what does it do?

DH - that hose is way bigger than the fuel drain line on mine!

    Oil drenched air filter.

Ok, thanks. I was under the impression that it was NOT the same as the civy version, as I've read posts here where the civy one is just a cap, not a breather, due to emission controls, etc.

    Electrical malfunction CUCV

That has always been my understanding. Though I will say that a friend of mine told me that when he had the battery replaced in his newer model car, I don't remember what it is - sorry, they left it running while swapping in the new battery. He was told that it was designed that way, so the...

Electrical Problem with Wiper Motor circuit

I am following it, with interest, but don't have anything useful to contribute. Your pictures were helpful, as I'll be swapping out my steering column one of these days. Since I moved the tilt column out of the living room, my wife is no longer on my case about it, so I'm not in a rush at the...

    M1009 Master cylinder replacement, Atlana

CJ, what fluid did they put in it? DOT 3 or DOT 5? If not DOT 5, had it been converted to DOT 3 before, or did they fully flush the entire system to convert to DOT 3?

    M1009 Rear power 24v to 12v modification

Mine is an '84, and it just had the cable running to the radio tray with some form or power connector on the end of it. No buss bar(s). I wound up pulling the cable out, as the engine compartment end was in really sorry shape.

    battery boost resister question

I would suggest testing the glow plugs, maybe one or more are shorted, which could lead the the burnt wire you mentioned. Though I think most of the time glow plugs fail in an open condition. I would also suggest doing the 12v bypass for the glow plug power supply. Then you can disconnect and...

Removed gauge cluster trim, now dead gauge and Gen 1 light

Did you disconnect the batteries before removing & reinstalling the panel? It is very easy to short the voltmeter leads to the metal of the dash. I would check for a blown fuse or burnt fusible link. I wouldn't think the volt meter not working would effect GEN 1, but can't say for sure.

    M1009 won't start, Marietta.(tuesday morning)

Glad to hear you got it running. On the glow plugs, as long as they aren't swollen, they are an easy DIY job. I went with the Bosch glow plugs from CUCV Electric. They took a little longer due to having to change the connectors. Removing the rear battery made it much easier to get to the right...
