I have both buzzer and light in my truck , I can get pictures if you like. My light is a Military add on , I also have a blinking hand brake light above my dash that blinks when your hand brake is on.
Call the DMV in Raleigh today , main office . Ask them if you can have an Antique tag at 10,001 lbs - 26,000 lbs , tell us what they say.

I agree , every DMV is differnt And in NC we have tag offices in your town that handle plates etc. In CO I just went to a diff one in Co Springs till I got what I wanted.
FLAT OUT , you have to have a weighted tag for anything in NC 10K lbs and over. ANYTHINGS else is illegal. No you do not have to have Commericial but half commericial trucks run weighted tags. So im sure people think they are commerial beacause the weighted plates are on semi's.

Roll the Dice , you might get a primo chrry truck and a week later something starts leaking. No way to tell how long a old truck will go before something needs adjusting or replacing.
If you can get it a hour and a half south to Black Creek , NC or if anyone can help , they can stay here free of charge until you can get a company or someone to bring it all the way to SC , Jay
