I mounted the deuce front tow lugs and stepped D-rings on my big M715 when I put the 10K Garwood on it so I could use a deuce towbar if needed. This is a pic from long ago when I had the winch set up with fluid power and the truck didn't have Rockwells yet.
I think the frame problem on that green Chevy was compounded by a certain sticker in the rear window. :D
Rizzo- Nice avatar on that other site! HA!
...Rockwells with Ouverson shafts will actually live with great big implement tire like those--
Not to pick, but looking at these winches, inside and out, I would think it would take a sensational amount of pull to blow the worm gear out of the bottom of the case. I would also think that the possibility of shearing off four hunks of bronze (driven teeth engaged) would be much more great...
RE: Driver
I know where there are a couple of complete, sitting for a while front axles for you truck if you're interested. I see you're a long ways away though--
Funny Mike-- :)
Hey Country, that's 10,100 lbs of Red Oak in that load. That's my Deuce truck right after I put the CAT V8 and front winch in. That's pre paint, rear winch, dropside, crane, etc. I put a Mack filter on the fender for the V8 swap...sorta 5 ton looking-
Here's another one:
After seeing the cold natured diesel post about the CUCV one gent owns, I wanted to ask what generally are the temps being seen with the deuce and a half trucks. Like what are standard low effort operating temps, loaded or hill climbing temps, etc.
My 1160 CAT with a stock recored and banded...
So the thread is "Lowes Paint Match," and on the bottom of the paint code slip is written Home Depot? :) I'm just picking...I'll prolly do that this time instead of 9 Krylon OD rattlecans.
Certain states allow a new purchase a short grace period to be gotten/driven home. PA is not one of them...ahem. Having proof of purchase and bonafide insurance coverage should get you past all but the prickiest of local law enforcement you may come across. Likelyhood of being pulled over for...
I've run those 1100x16 XL's on the M715's with good success. Fit with no lift, run nice and quiet...actually too quiet. I had swapped over from a set of 37x13x16 Boggers that sounded like a 4 engine cargo plane to the XLs and the quiet lull hum of the XL's was sort of a let down. :)
RE: truck
VERY glad to see you're going to do this the responsible way by having insurance and not just picking it up and hoping for the best. As one that's been hit by an under-insured motorist and taken the short end of it (and will deal with damages from that forever) hats off to you for that-
I've set my winches up on Key ways instead of pins. I believe that the winches are under-rated and will take a lot more abuse then what they're credited with. Castings are real beefy. The only time I've ever heard of a winch problem was with the M37 and M715 (I think the LU-4) where 'bouncing'...
No.2Diesel, the outriggers extend out and down. Here two decent pics of the outriggers extended. The crane is not at it's full extension.
Tim, Tape worm is still there- that 160 was a 'soaking wet' weight. :)
The crane valve parts are currently at a shop outside Tooele, Utah getting priced. Yes, that's the dropside I shortened. The sun was wrong for that pic so I'll get a better one this afternoon and swap that dark pic out-
This has been requested several times, made fun of several times, and I've wondered too...so here it is. The weight of my M35-977A2C :) I have weights for just the front, just the tandems, then the whole truck. Empty. Ha- ...well I was sitting in it so technically empty it's...
