This is what I love about this site. People sharing their opinions and helping to educate each other. I understand that this is acceptable and ok. However I will not do my bobbed deuces this way. We mount the rear axle the same way the front is mounted I think it looks more balanced.
I am glad someone has seen these in person. Its a shame that the trucks arent as nice as the pics make them seem. But to turn trucks out as fast as they do you have to wonder about quality.
I understand the CUCv suspension. Maybe what bothers me is the huge gap between the springs and the ubolts on the sides. It seems like they are under a side load and could shift then they would be loose. Maybe its just the lack of attention to detail. If they were stacked nice and tight to the...
This is a picture of the way the ubolts normally go. It seems to me they would help to limit any forward/backward axle movement. (This pic is from a 100dollarman post)
Ok, I want you to look at the pics and let me know what you think. I personnaly think that this is an accident waiting to happen. The company that built this truck sells about 2 a month on ebay. I had never noticed this before and thought maybe they just screwed the pooch on this one. so I went...
The most time comsuming part of this restoration are the small bits. If I was'nt so anal retentive this probably would'nt matter to me but it does. I think one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century has to be the bead blaster. Some parts on this truck have 7 layers of paint. Its amazing...
I lived on Columbus, Ga for 3 years and can understand why thinning your WMO would'nt be at the top of your list. The weather you guys are having isn't very common down there. I think ether and thinned fuel with gasoline will do the trick. I just have one suggestion. Down the road this spring...
There is a lot of work to do it right. I have been involved in a hardcore Resto-Bob for a couple months now. We are just getting ready to paint. We had to sand blast and repair the doors and fenders, hood, fuel tank, batt and storage boxes. I have a thread going called Let the bobbing begin...
This is my opinion. You can run a big block and a 4l80e auto trans or a HD 5 speed manual and they will both hold up fine. You will increase top end speed with the OD and higher rpm capability of the engine. Also it will have more HP and Torque than the stock multifuel. The enine will need...
I am adding this weeks youtube update for your viewing pleasure. My son wants me to let you know these updates have their own channel now. www.youtube.com/RealCustomTrucks he would like to encourage everyone to subscribe if you like.
Welcome to the site.
i think fresh fluids are very important. As are some upgrades to the glowplug system. You can search for posts on this. But the most important part to me would be going through the brake system. Fresh fliud, New rubber hoses, and wheel cylinders and calipers unless you know...
You would be surprized how many old caddy engines there are and how cheap they are. Plus they have a different look than a chevy bigblock. People are just starting to fiqure out how much potential they have. They are torque monsters.
