:( Looks nice and you had the foresight to build tall. Mine's 10' tall inside I built 3 years or so before I got the disease. I still say in a few years it won't be long enough though :) coming from 45'x72' full to the brim......
Seems like a good idea to me. Keep them greased. I replaced all my torque rods a couple weeks after I got my first truck an A3 when one failed in my backyard over gopher mounds and too much application of throttle and maybe in low range and maybe some alcohol.
I've bought two vehicles from Ripley sight unseen, M35A3(GL video) M923(GL video). Both drove home about 90 miles. My 923 needs the oil cooler replaced and had some issues with ctis seals on the M35A3 and torque rods. The last round of 923 and 923A2 went amazing cheap IMO. Like getting a truck...
Sometimes it's the easy things we overlook! I was going to remove the batteries and charge them on a couple chargers I have in the pole barn, Went to remove the negative cable.....Loose connection! Tightened it up and presto my engine cranking was back in business!
Someone just posted rebuilding their fuel tank selector valve,IIRC there were quite a few hoses on that thing(6?), so I'm guessing it gets pumped back into whichever tank you have selected. Only one valve.
The metered ether shot fills up the little "cup" at the bottom via a plunger pushing...
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?117516-Another-M923A2-Question Look at post#9 in that thread. If your lever isn't fully forward against the wire stop, it will either run poorly or not at all. My lever would catch on a kinked section of the wire and not move fully forward...
These trucks come with a metered ether system. For a reason. Some of them will simply not start even with 4 new batteries cranking away until they are dead.
Yes that is definitely possible. The fuel tank selector is indeed on the floor next to the drivers door. It's kinda a problem in waiting if you forget to switch one or the other with each other.
That's how my tractor came from Sparta. It has M931A2 black plate, and data plate, though the data plate has a 32/00xxx serial and the black plate has 31/00xxx serial. It has everything but the frame extensions and winch to make it a M932A2. I wonder if a lot of the 932A2 series during rebuild...
Did you actually use the Genius charger on truck batteries? Reason I ask is the product description is kinda vague in it says can maintain bigger batteries, but kinda specifies smaller batteries for all the features such as restoring them. I'm in need of a good charger/sulphider My 923 will...
Don't know if this has anything to do with your problem but might be timely coincidence http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?76086-5-ton-fuel-tank-selector-valve-cleaning-rebuild
I have a M923 with the gunner hole in the hardtop and what looks like issued cover, if you need measurements or pics let me know, if I can find any numbers I'll take a look if requested. Mine had half an antenna holding it up to keep rain from puddling.
