    Quick and Easy Winch Mount

One thing to remember with your snatch block is it will need to take the full load of whatever you are pulling. If you need the 24k by doubling your 12k winch your snatch block will have 12 tons on it. If it won't hold it it becomes a deadly missile. That is a small snatch block to be rated that...

    Door Dent

The rag sounds like something good to try. The problem with any old screwdriver is you have to push in on the door panel as far as the screwdriver handle is thick to get the blade on the clip. Thats why a metal ruler or something like it works well. To put the clip back on when your done, put it...

    Door Dent

The door panel will come off and you can push out the dent. Probably the hardest part to get off is the window crank. There is a wire keeper that holds it on. I just use a wide blade screw driver to push it off, watch where it goes. I think there is a tool the pros use. Once you get the handle...

Will 31 Gal tank fit in M1009

I like the idea of 40 gallons. It should save $. I went to Idaho last weekend and had to pay a .20 premium for buying it there. It adds up. The downside is hauling around the extra weight but you don't need to fill it unless you are going to use it.

The reason you tow your m1009 home not drive

Its an adventure. One you won't forget. Time is the limiting factor for me or I'd take one again.

ever get a load of gas in your CUCV?

Josh, The price of fuel never has made much sense. I was driving south on I-5 last week and filled up at a safeway near longview, the safeway at woodland 10 miles or less further south had diesel for .18 more per gallon. I agree tho that Oregon seems to be lower generally than the pump your own...

ever get a load of gas in your CUCV?

If its hot and you don't want to get out of your ac luxury, or if you don't like winter weather you can lower your window 1/2 inch so you don't feel any arctic air to slide your card through or when you sniff your finger you don't smell anything like gas or diesel from pumping your own. The...

Will 31 Gal tank fit in M1009

I didn't think the civy's have the skid plate, and I thought I would have to lose that.

ever get a load of gas in your CUCV?

My M1009 is labeled diesel only, but the filler as you know is at the right rear, and if you stay in your truck, is much harder to see than the m1008, which is next to the drivers door. I told her diesel, handed her my card and after running my card, pulls out the gas nozzle. Luckily I got out...

ever get a load of gas in your CUCV?

I have almost gotten gas twice here recently. As I'm typing this I just realized most of the country pumps your own but here in Oregon that is against the law. An attendant must do the pumping. Sometimes I think they are brain dead from the fumes all day:cookoo: What is involved if this does...

Will 31 Gal tank fit in M1009

I had a 40 gal tank on craigslist for $50 and it wouldn't sell. Had it there because I thought it wouldn't fit my M1009. Sounds like I'm glad it didn't sell. I was selling it complete, straps, hoses, pickup, sending unit ...everything. I think I'll try to get in there this weekend. Thanks

    Speedo Bounce

I didn't think about the ground because everything else works. Before I changed out the cluster the first time the other fuel gauge worked fine. The one in there now would work as its supposed to only occasionally. A full tank usually reads 1/4 tank on the gauge, lately it likes to read 1/8...

    Speedo Bounce

The plastic post that the gear indicator cable rides around broke so I changed out the whole unit with a spare I had and found that my replacement speedo had a very annoying bounce. I ran it for 3k miles and it persisted. I had to get in there again because the fuel gage was acting like it...

I did spray some blaster up there cause it was handy, but maybe I'll try some lock lube, just to be sure. Thanks

    ignition switch repair

Mine is giving me some warning, so I'd better heed it or risk getting stranded. Its a bit of a drive to texas from oregon, but there are a few things I'd like to see there while I get my switch changed.

    1984 m1008

One thing to be sure of is that the axles haven't been replaced. I've seen that before, but it was always noted by the seller, but after it has been sold a few times, that info may be forgotten. Maybe they let some air out of the tires, because every M1008 or M1028 I've rode in was very stiff...

    Where can I buy?

I heard from GL the last time I was there getting a trailer that they are deploying them, in other words giving them to the Iraqis. GL said they haven't seen any good ones. They practically give them to GL according to the SF97. I don't know if any of that is true or false. If it is true, seems...

    ignition switch repair

Looks straight forward in the video. Thanks for posting it. I'll need to get my hands on a spring compressor. Its not the key so I'm reasonably sure the lock has worn out. I'm not too worried about CUCV keys. If they want to steal it, they just bust the steering column anyway and I remove the...
