M1009 Top Removal - Would it work?

My daughter put the top on her M1009 back on by herself in a rainstorm. The paint had some marks on one of the corners where I could see she was struggling but she got it on. She isn't a big girl but she can be very determined. She said it was very hard, but she had to get it on. Greg

    CUCV flat towing tranny/transfer position.

The last M1009 I brought home from Ft Lewis had the lockout hubs assembled so it was always engaged in 4x4 no matter how it was turned. I was curious if this was done on purpose or a mistake. If it was just 1, I thought it would have been a mistake but both were the same, so I think somebody...

    model year differences?

Did the seat bases get an upgrade in the later models or were they replacements for bases that went bad? It also seems engine HP ratings changed on the sticker on the air cleaner, whether there were any actual mods I haven't heard of any.

    M1031 - 4L80E conversion ??s

I bought a 4l80e last night because the price was good and I got everything that went with it(or can go back for it) for the 6.5 diesel. It is a 93 model. I have read this thread, but its not completely clear if I can use the control box or need a stand alone box. Its from a 93 2wd pickup. I...

    Cracked np 208

I bought a M1008 with a broken 208, but the reason it broke was it was pulling a overloaded gooseneck in low range with a non working vacuum pump on the ip so when it did shift it was at very high revs and very harsh. Something had to give and I'm glad it was the TC. I don't think they are weak...

    m1009 4spd manual conversion

Thanks for the pointers. What is the likely hood of finding the crank not bored? Is it a slim chance? or is it a rare that it is? 50/50? Will the year effect the %? Thanks

    m1009 4spd manual conversion

Is there any sign, whether from the vin, year built, % of CUCV's, whatever, that can give a hint or indication if the crank has the hole for the bushing or is it a crap shoot. If it is a total crap shoot what % rate do I have to worry about, from your experiences. I ask this because maybe I...

    m1009 4spd manual conversion

It was mentioned in another thread that the 350 chev manual bell housing has some differences from a 6.2 4spd manual bell housing. Can the 350 sb bell housing be used with a 6.2 and if so what does it take? It was also mentioned somewhere that some 6.2 L engines did not have their crank...

    tires again

I appreciate all the input. Sometimes there is no answer. As to my fuzzy goal, it sounds like most of you feel its a pie in the sky and your convincing me not to try it. With 3.08's and 31" tires 65 feels like the engine is turning too fast. I didn't think 33" tires would cut the rpm that much...

1982 chevy diesel man xmission donor

I thought 350 and 6.2 have the same bolt pattern. If not finding a 6.2 4spd combo will be alot harder. Can sombody please confirm. Thanks

1982 chevy diesel man xmission donor

So it sounds like, if you can find a 84-86 4spd donor vehicle, pickup or suburban with a gas 350, you only need a 6.2 diesel flywheel to bolt it all in? Thanks

    tires again

I know acceleration won't be good and pulling hills will be poor. Anybody know the torque curve for the 6.2? I'd like to cruise at 70 at the peak if there is one.

    very slight rough idle

Mine is random, you can feel it in both tail pipes. It isn't steady like its only 1 cylinder. Also the more demand you have on the engine at idle the worse the miss is felt. If you slip it into neutral at a stop its not very noticable. Could it be the lift pump not supplying enough fuel at the...

    tires again

I don't have a 700r4 + the cost to beef it. I'm going to need tires soon anyway and I like big tires, if they can stay in the fender well. I think I'm going to try running the 10 bolt. Greg

    very slight rough idle

Possibly try it when the truck is warm. I'm thinking that the problem is somewhere in the fuel delivery, possibly dirty injectors and my electrical glitch compounded the problem. I can live with it the way it is, but not the way it was. Greg

    very slight rough idle

When I removed the cold advance and fast idle wires, it idled smooth. Today the slight roughness returned but the very rough rumping idle hasn't and the speed changing hasn't returned either. Starting was alittle more difficult but not much. It was about 45* today. Greg

    tires again

I want to lift it as little as possible and don't mind alittle trimming. Getting it up high might catch too much wind, which would kill mileage along with speed. I saw where guys moved their front forward and used a 2wd steering box to use a crossover and gain clearance. I want to do the same...

    tires again

I have read too many tire threads trying to get info, I don't know what to think. I bought some 16" 6 lug steel wheels and I have 1100 xzl tires. Will the 6.2 blow the 10 bolt rear end with freeway use? I see that 35" tires are what many think is the limit but I will only use this M1009 for...

    very slight rough idle

Ken, I removed the green wires from the ip. Mine now idles smooth. I'll see what the difference that makes during a cold start. Curious if that helps yours. Greg

    injector help

Thanks for the link, I was surprised to see you get more power with indirect. I think I found my problem with the rough, irregular idling. I went for a drive and while I was pulling up to a stop sign I felt the gas pedal move or click and the truck went into a very rough idle from just a rough...
