1800 RPM is what most generator heads like to be run at to make 60hz AC, right?
I would think the LDT-465 would be very good at that.
eta: And the ultimate bugout truck mod would be a PTO driven generator head that hooks right up to the deuce PTO. Not sure how much power you can transmit...
ok, I had an idea the other day...
In addition to the line running straight to the air cleaner box, how about another "T" with a valve and a regulator set to 1 or 2 PSI going to the air supply?
That way, in normal operation, the valve is set to vent axles, TC, and transmission to the air...
Ok, just wanted to make a post about my experience with this problem.
The symptoms: Air shift valve would spray oil out the little vent holes on the side (on side more than the other) when flipping it to "out." And it would slowly ooze gear oil after shut down.
First I tried taking the...
My deuce came with one of the funky on/off wiper control knobs.
So I pulled the knob and valve, and it is definitely not a needle valve. It's some kind of on/off ball valve, I think. Never worked really well, tho. Lots of slop in it, so it would never completely close.
Swapped it out for...
Electro magnetic pulse.
Magnetism inducing current in wires, just like in a generator (or an electric motor operated in reverse).
I would think that the real problem would be objects with long wires for current to be induced in. Like telephone lines. Not cars. I mean, if we get hit with an...
I considered that, but I didn't think there was enough metal in the lid to do it.
I think it would be better than drilling a hole because then someone could thread a plug in there, weld it, and grind it flush to return it to stock condition very easily.
eta: M35-tom,
If I add a vent line for...
I went by fastenal and ordered all brass fittings:
14 male to barb fittings
2 street Ts
2 all female Ts
2 90* streets.
This should all me to run everything to a single line going into the air cleaner housing. It'll be all 1/4" ID tubing.
I'll drill a hole in the top of the lid, run one of...
guess I'll just go ahead and get a brass fitting and some poly tubing to relocate the vent.
Are you guys that have done this using any kind of filter or check valve on the other end of the tubing to keep dirt or bugs from getting into the line?
When ya'll say "run the line up to the air cleaner" what do you mean?
Are you attaching it to the air cleaner somehow? Some pictures would be extremely helpful...
At least, I can't find it. I pulled the tunnel cover... the only thing I can see that might have been a vent location is just forward of the shifter boot, there's what looks like a small plug.
Is that the location and they just put a plug in it, for some reason?
Or is it someplace else?
If you're going to "build" a deuce, I'd say the cheapest way to do it would be to buy a running deuce from GL or a private seller.
Then take it apart down to the frame and do a frame-off restoration and put it back together.
I've completely disassembled a deuce (with 2 other guys helping and...
Where do you stow your large tow bar on a deuce? I'm talking about the next size up from the medium.
Is there some way to bolt it to the side of the bed without modifying the truck or would I have to make a set of brackets for it?
Yeah yeah, I know, "just put it in the bed"... but man, it's...
south texas here, welcome.
You should come to the Austin Veterans' Day parade. Lone Star MVPA will have 20+ MVs there. And afterwards we all pile in a couple deuces and convoy to Threadgills for lunch!
