    Fusible Links - 101

Or keep an eye on the Harbor Freight ads, as they have a "free with purchase" coupon for a multimeter every now and then.

    getting discouraged with the CUCV

Have you tried cleaning the CDR valve ( the thing on the passenger side valve cover ) ? There are a few threads about this, and what to use, etc. I'll be doing mine soon. A neighbor of mine, who knows much more about diesels then I do, suggests using straight gasoline to cut the oil / diesel...

    M1009 turns but no start

The black diamond shaped thing is the 12v buss. The silver cylinder next to the brake master cylinder is the GP relay. Since it appears from that picture that the GP system is still in its 24v configuration, you should read 24v at the top post of the silver cylinder. The bottom post is...

    TM corrections

Could we at least add the publication date and or release number in the description of the TM? Might save some time ( and bandwidth ) when comparing what can be found from other sources without having to d/l each one to see its date and rev?

24 Volt light wireing brain fart

If there is no connection between the two batteries, neg to pos, to complete the series circuit, then no, this won't work. I was thinking that the drawing was just incomplete, not showing the interconnection of the batteries. Perhaps there is more then is depicted in the drawing?

24 Volt light wireing brain fart

Silly question... have you verified you are getting 24v to and out of the switch?

    Vacuum valve part source...?

I'd prefer to have the correct part in there, but until I can find one, I'll live with the direct connection. :-D

    Vacuum valve part source...?

As far as I can tell, that part is NLA. I tried my local NAPA, O'Reillys, Pep Boys and Car Quest. I even took the print out shown above by the OP hoping that a counterman might recognize it. Several other threads here on SS came up with the same result... NLA. I just removed it and connected...

    M1008 starting problems

I think you should get the wiring diagrams from the TMs and check your fusible links. Those wires you saw burning were probably those links. Don't go by the visible look of the wire, test them out. Do a search, this has been covered many times. Welcome to the site!

    Cold shifting problems

Did you do the work yourself? If so, did it require any special tools, and how hard was it? If not, how much was it to have a shop do the work? I've never worked on transmission internals, manual or automatic, but would like to learn! No, I'm not hoping my transmission goes out just so I can...

    No lights?

Another thing to check is that, I believe, there is a diode in the wiring for the horn circuit, and if it has failed in an shorted condition, the horn will sound even if the horn button is not pressed or stuck. I had read about it on this forum, so a search should turn it up. Oh, and there is...

    PDF For Military Maintenance Logs?

Those forms are exactly what I was looking for, especially the 2404, thanks! I was just starting to read about them in the 750-8 pamphlet mentioned by moose53, and now here they are! Thanks a bunch everyone! Yes, I have a problem... I like vehicle maintenance paperwork :cookoo:

    PDF For Military Maintenance Logs?

Thanks! This is an interesting pamphlet! ( Pamphlet my butt, its over 300 pages long! ) I was able to find one online dated 2005, and it looks like it should cover just about everything I was looking for. Sadly, someone neglected to follow step "d" when my truck was turned over to GL, or GL...

    PDF For Military Maintenance Logs?

Thank you. I saved those for when I move up into bigger MVs [thumbzup] I do have the Lubrication Order PDF for the CUCVs, but did not see any mention in it covering service record documentation. My truck did not have any paperwork in it, other than the GL stuff taped to the windows, etc.

    PDF For Military Maintenance Logs?

Thank you! That ERO is the sort of thing I'm looking for. Does anyone know what the Army version of this form is, or other Army vehicle maintenance foms/logs that would have been in use during the service life of an CUCV?

    dash repair question

Man, I wish my dash pad looked that good! Mine is more not there than there. We are hoping to find a decent one in the junk yard. I will be very interested to see how this works out for you. Edited to add pics ( still think I can just cover it with vinyl? )
